It's like installing a massive Red button with a 'Do not Touch' sign underneath. You know full well someone won't be able to resist it.

Whilst I am not condoning racist behaviour, Bulgaria is a predominantly white, mafia run country where pubs cheerily show pornos at 16.00 in the afternoon. Attitudes are light years away from here. I'm not sure what the answer is but threatening to walk off is probably more encouraging than preventative. Whatever the answer is, its a generation before it gets fixed at least.

That's the problem right there. They are not dealing with it. Bulgaria are playing behind semi closed doors (5000 seats less) because of chants in 2011.

Well if that's the case, then in a generation's time, they should be allowed to host international football again.

Until then, make them play behind closed doors, make them play at neutral venues or, in the worst case, ban them . It really should be that simple.

Yes, I see what you are saying. Perhaps if the ref were to do it, and observe UEFA's code for such behaviour, that would be an acceptable solution, and perhaps sway a crowd reaction more, but will your average ref, faced with such a charged situation, actually do so? . .

I dont think that the teams should as it means the racists have won but if the ref stops the game that is a different matter. So all on the refs shoulders acting under instructions from either FIFA or EUFA as appropriate.

Never claimed to be edgy or blokie or a warrior. I just happen to hold the 'wrong' views on things. You are entitled to your opinion about me and how 'permanently wrong' I am.......like in the Ched Evans case eh sunshine!!!

Good point. Without the back-up from FIFA and ALL officials in the game that can verify any racism and take immediate action, it will just continue.

On the other hand, if we walk off it would ruin the tournament, highlight the problem and compel FIFA to actually do something? The question is what?

I just hope that we don't walk off, get no back up, no replay and the racist morons win the day.

If the officials handle this right and play it by the book, would that make any difference? Or are the players going to walk anyway just to highlight the issue regardless of assurances from FIFA that something will be done. It's not clear to me what instructions the players have been given in the event of an incident. Is a replay guaranteed in the event of a walk-out?

Or perhaps it is rather a question of not wanting to hear, which then gets them off the hook and avoids nasty punishments -far better to fine or close part of the ground. I would be happy for the team to walk off and then let's face up to UEFA if they want to deduct points; in the subsequent confrontation, we will at least see which other countries have the same degree of moral courage - don't hold your breath! But, it would be better if the ref does it, on balance, but again -don't hold your breath.
