The club are probably waiting until there's something to actually market. Why would people return to support the club after paying £20 to sit in the South Stand rain to watch crap?

When Falmer is finished there will be something to sell, no matter what the quality of football.

Targeting the student market would be quite easy once the Community Stadium is up and running. I used to be Vice-President of the University of Wolverhampton Students' Union and did some work with myself Wolves towards this (Like Falmer, Molineux is slap bang in the middle of campus). It doesn't need to be expensive, you just need some inside help... Wolves got our Students' Union onside by offering help for our charity campaigns in return for the chance to distrubute flyers to students offering £5 matchday tickets.

Students will also probably be vital to staff the bars/shops/turnstiles too, so trying to get access to the student body may not be such a bad thing.

I was editor of our paper at Hull Uni and one of the first things they did after opening the KC Stadium was invited some of us up for a guided tour. They also used to send in people from the football and rugby league clubs to speak at Athletic Union events and gave away a load of stuff in our paper as well as sending us match previews and giving us the chance to interview players etc.

It was a very similar situation because at the time Hull trained at the university and had a new stadium to fill.

What about advertising at train stations like Horsham, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne etc?

I can remember Haywards Heath rugby club used to have posters at stations with their fixture list on and ticket details and Horsham FC certainly have similar ones up at Horsham station.

Spot on. IMO If we are going to hit the numbers at Falmer we need to get the students in.

As for the gay population, it always amuses me that people think there are none at Albion games. The gay feller in my circle of friends looks and sounds like a northern prop forward.

How many Hull games did it make you atend, and would you count them as a second team. Do you think their is enough of a market or will a lot of Students just watch the champions league in the bar.

I did have a Palace mate who went to Stoke with my wife and lived next to Port Vale's ground and treats them as a second team. However my wife lived next to the old Victoria Ground and never went as she only watchs Brighton.
