I've never been convinced that he is a natural penalty taker. Even the one he scored against Argentina in Japan was poor. Can't we have someone else take them now he has missed two on the spin?

No. His penalties are dire.

Owen isn't much better at the moment. Lampard may be able to take them. He should have the confidence at the moment. I have never seen Rooney take one but it does appear that nothing seems to scare him so maybe he would be a good bet.

God only knows who would take them in a shootout.

Beckham. Missed last two.
Owen. Missed how many for Liverpool?
Scholes. No confidence although should score.
Lampard. Would bet on him scoring.
Gerrard. rarely lets anyone down.

!"Gerrard. rarely lets anyone down."

Except for when it matters like last night with a diabolic back pass which resulted in the penlty. James was lucky to stay on the pitch.

Beckham will score a penalty or free kick when we beat France in the one that matters THE FINAL.

Paul Scholes has always looked a natural from the spot. Beckham has missed his last 2 for England. Scholes would be my choice.

Has everyone got rose tinted glasses when it comes to Gerrard?!?

He is as bad a penalty taker as Beckham and Owen. He missed a crucial one for Liverpool recently, and Danny Murphy had to take over as spot kick taker after Owen and Gerrard's persistent incompetence (and Murphy scored his penalty, the winner against Man Ure at Old Trafford).

Scholes is not the best penalty taker in the world either and has missed a few in his time.

I would be inclined to say Lampard out of a very poor bunch.

Leon Knight for England :clap2: For the penalties if nothing else! Out of the players on the pitch i'd have given it to Frank Lampard.
