Though the contact may have started on the edge of the box it continued into the area which, under the rules of the game, means a penalty can be awarded.

You're technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.

Plus 9.7 for outstanding rolling. He's on a season long loan from Newcastle, according to the Fulham commentary.

The ref hd no hesitation in giving it, so he was convinced. The still shows the start of the tackle but not the time it was completed and where Kafenga was. At the speed he was travelling a second to complete the tackle would have made all the difference as he only had to travel another 18 inches.

I tthink a penalty was the correct decision.

Actually the ref DID hesitate on the decision and looked to his linesman for help.

Perhaps I should amend that to the lino had no hesitation when asked by the ref if it was in the box.

It was certainly more a penalty than the one that Southampton were awarded at St. Marys when Dunk fouled their player who was virtually in the back row of the stand when the contact was made.

The only people in the stadium that may of said it was not a penalty were the 5 or 6 people at the turnstiles with their guide dogs

Which is all well and dandy ... until keepers suss that this is what he does
If a keeper doesnt move then he will never get to either corner before the ball, as long as the ball is by the post. Besides in his interview he says he has always been a penalty taker so he's obviouly not been sussed out yet.
