I was there and said not 10 minutes before, we need to take some long shots, as the sun was low at that point. I have no doubt it was a shot but I was shocked when it went it. Maybe Allisson could have got it but maybe it just dipped perfectly at the end. The pace and direction was a shot as it started out going to the keepers left and then swerved over to the right. It was too hard and way too off target from that angle to be anything but a shot.

Definite shot. The body shape, the look at goal, the fact we never, ever do crosses from deep like that...

Agreed - would’ve been very uncharacteristic of our approach play under Potter to whip in a looping cross from that sort of position. It’s just not something our players generally do, especially in a post-Murray era.

Yup.

It's either just about the worst and most pointless cross I've seen this season or a very clever piece of play, instinctive, yet with the retained memory that Alisson has the sun in his eyes.

I'm going for the latter every single time.
