Shoreham area restaurants - help please

What's good?

Wanted to go to the Sussex Pad next Thursday night but they can't take the booking for the 12-15 people I need to make it for.

Where would you go?

(Choosing Shoreham as a half way house for people from Brighton and Worthing. May have to look further East if need be.)

For Seafood the Seafood Exp is very good

Indian try the Indian Cottage in the high street

The Pink Elephant is also good for thai food

Plenty of others in shoreham high street

About all that's left in the high street these day's

mind you, i did eat at the shore bar recently and was quite nicelt surprised. (by the food)

try Nia on the High Street, good, and varied to suit all tastes, relaxed atmos too

fishy place on the beach is mediocre IMHO

Shore bars changed hands but still pretty good

La Petit Bodeaux at the end of the High street is pretty good too if you like French food, fresh seafood is good

either of the Italians are just average Italian nosh to be honest, nothing wrong, but you can better it at home so defeats the object of going out if you ask me !

The Chinese/Vietnamese in the high street has always been very good, although I've not been there for a while.

The shore bar is a good place to go as the food and atmosphere are very good if a bit pricey
The seafood experience is not bad either.
A cheap option that would be able to fit you all in would be the italian on the corner of east street is the Galleria.

You will have trouble fitting in over ten people anywhere good in Shoreham without special arrangements.

Beware the Swiss Cottage which is big enough but can be naff.

Seafood experience is ok, but we were not that impressed - besides its a long walk over the footbridge and not much parking if you drive.....

We prefer Nia on the high street at the moment - depends on your price range and type of restaurant you're looking for??

Galleria - Good cheapish Italian right by the church yard, might give you the upstairs room for a party that size.... reasonably priced and usually fun and busy

Nia - Up market modern (cajun chicken, thai fish, slow roasted lamb etc.) resturant on the high street, more expensive and probably more of a place for 2 or 4 peeps to dine, but would easily take 15 and has a great wine list...

Shore Bar near Nia on the high street - Great for cocktails before dinner - food gone down hill a bit since changed hands recently but good pizzas, pasta, meat and chicken dishes...

Theres a French rest. at the Bridge pub end of the high street - very popular after its recent change of management (again) but it is very French - ie bleeding rare steak

Both the Thai restaurant and the Chinese on the high street are perfectly fine slightly above average places as is the Indian Cottage...

Theres an italian next to Nia on the high street that I haven't eaten at for ages so can't really comment - but it seems fullish most of the time...

Can't think of anywhere else at the mo in Shoreham....

Parking is dreadful as well. But there is a car park near the Waterside Inn, near Sea Food Experience. Not much room in there but it s rarely busy.

Tandoori Cottage and Gondola are usually packed. There is a restuarant in the Old Town Hall which may well qualify on size. Cannot comment on quality or suitability.

la tosca is nice in the high street. the chefs from the galleria upped and left and set up that restuarant

dont even THINK about going to the swiss cottage!!

it isnt a restaurant. its a pub where the bar staff put food in the microwave

Gondola has now gone Frenchie. What's the name of the packed place in East Street. I've gotta go down town in a minute. Maybe I remember. Its either owned by Greeks, Cypriots or Turks.

PS: Shoreham Town Hall used to be owned by Hoogstraten. I do not know who owns it now?

Thanks for the help - booked Le Petit Bordeaux - chap was very helpful and fish does sound good. Not much good for me, as a veggie weirdo freak, but will be great for my Mum who will be enjoying her birthday. I hope.
