Just been down hove park with the dog and was talking to a fellow dog walker, the guy was late 20 early 30,started to talk football and he had no idea the goldstone exsisted just over the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we need a bloody statue

How long have u lived in Hove Rev???? lol, just a tad surprised that u didnt know the location of our ancestral home.

But yeah, agree 100%, we DO need a bloody statue!.

Question is ... if ever we were to have one, who (or what) should it be of?.

If someone has haved move to Hove in the past few years, and not a football/Albion fan, why would it be expected that they would know there was once a football ground there?

That said, there should be a commemoration, perhaps a slab laid in the pavement where the entrance to the North Stand was (assuming there is a pavement there).

Well, l was going by the assumption that the Rev is actually an Albion fan, and surely all Hove residents beyond a certain age will know where the Goldstone actually stood. Unless of course what he said was tongue in cheek.

The thing is, yes we agree that there should be a statue or monument of some kind, but what, or who, of?.

Spooky this,

i met my brothers 20 year old son for the first time on saturday (long story).
he has live in Moulscome all his life and supports Brighton and had no idea about the Goldstone Ground. he did however know where Toys R Us is.

What are you on about? The Rev is referring to someone he got talking to that wasn't aware of the Goldstone Ground.

Seriously, read the Rev's post again. He IS an Albion fan over 'a certain age'. It was the person to whom he was talking who had no idea that the Goldstone Retail Park was once the site of a football ground. He was a bit distressed that a younger person DIDN'T know.

I agree there should be some sort of comemmoration plaque or something there.

EDIT: Bugger, beaten to it.
