Sheffield United are playing Leeds at Brammall Lane on Tuesday 18th April. That's the third to last game of the season. Could be VERY interesting by then.

True, Leeds have been chipping away at their lead gradually. I would guess a draw in that game could even let Watford in.

Leeds might well be under more pressure than Watford but I think they have more experience and a bigger squad.

On that Seagulls World thing last Friday, Dick Knight said that he still believed we had a very good chance of signing Shipperley and Tom Brighton in the summer. Would Warnock really have changed his mind by then, especially if they dont go up?

yes, if they do go up then he won't get a contract cause he's not good enough

But Leeds dont have that much pressure on them as they have been out of the top two the whole season. Sheffield United were top for a while, have been second for ages, and seem to have it all to lose.

Leeds are a huge club and they are expected to go up this year - a bit like west ham - also despite signing a new deal Blackwell must know Bates isnt the waiting type.

I agree. I think Shipperley would probably get himself a lower Championship side next season - maybe one of the southern teams that look like going up (ie Brentford), or someone like Luton, QPR etc. As for Tom Brighton, is there actually anything to believe he is any good? Someone on this thread said he wasn't much of a success at Gillingham, and I noticed he had only scored about 6 goals in SCOTLAND this year

And to your point, no I don't believe we did try THAT hard. There were reasons why we didn't sign anybody other than Henderson in the transfer window, and why loads went out on loan. We are skint, end of!!

Just because we have relatively little money didn't mean we didn't try hard though. We have chased about 40 players in recent months, some went elsewhere because of money and better facilities, some wouldn't be released by their clubs, and some were judged just not much better than the likes of CKR and OGH we already have.

Soccerbase says 6 goals in 28 apps for the Gills. He ain't going to get any better given his age, whereas I guess the rationale with Brighton is that he is young and could get better.

But for example, look at the strikers leeds can rotate. Blake, Cresswell, Hulse and Healy. If Watford lose King to an injury, and he was struggling last week, that could be it.

I agree with your idea about Brighton being younger and therefore a better potential investment.

But Brighton sounds like more of a second striker, more like CKR, whereas we need more of a finisher. Unless of course CKR can turn into the poacher, and he would play them together.

True but you could say the Same when Zamora got crippled by notts county - it may just inspire the others to do better, also dont forget Henderson has got 10 goals in a lot less games than King and Young is a very good player.
