Just been isolated in my cabin with shingles. Quite painful right now.
Anyone experienced this? Just checked online & it says 2-4 weeks FFS!

Had it 11 years ago, aged 31.
My rash was on the left side of my head.....and was possibly the most painful thing I've ever experienced.
Recovery was around six weeks....and 11 years later the area affected is still numb and tingly.

I wish you well, some cases can be very mild, and hope that's the case for you.

Not sure how old you are, but you can get a vaccination injection:

My Mrs had it twice, and it's no joke :(

Good luck.

The vaccination is for over 70s, so doesn't apply to Smudge.
Are you being treated with Zovirax anti virals? They should help, but unfortunately, even once the rash & scabs go, the pain can remain for months.
My other half had it, from his neck up into his head, whereas mine followed a line from my back round to my front left chest.
Like chickenpox it is no longer infectious once the spots scab over, but you might need painkillers for a while. Rest as much as you can.

Yes, horrible thing.

I couldn't stand anything touching the area which was on my left side....even shirts and t shirts were difficult to wear.

It lasted about 4 weeks and went finally after 12 weeks.

Sorry to hear that mate. It is NOT infectious

Wet or dry ? Wet is highly contagious and yucky dry is just a flare up and is uncontaigous , I remember my wet episode Jesus H it was grim , still have the exit scar under my eye .

Don't want to worry you, but I've known 2 people who've had Shingles, and they were still experiencing symptoms 6 months later.

If you know what it is, and you get treated within 48/72 hours of the first symptoms, it does head off most of the condition.

The vacination is available privately, and is well worth having from what I've been told by those 2.

Fingers-crossed that you make a speedy recovery [emoji106]

..but then if its a mild case it won't be anywhere near that long

Had it at uni down my right hand side, properly knocked me out for a while and 20 years later I still have scaring on my side.

Cheers for the answers, especially the sympathetic responses from the RN contingent. :lolol:

Typical WAFU whining and dripping
Just take 3 cans of Brewmaster a day followed by a total of rum and the pain will disappear quicker than your wallet on a runashore
