Interesting read, he smacks of a no2 to me though, and in my opinion would be a much much bigger risk than Sherwood.

They're both risky. Sherwood only has 5 years coaching experience and 5 months managing at Spurs. Clement has been a coach at Wimbledon, Academy coach at both Chelsea and Fulham, a coach with Ireland U21, first team coach at Chelsea, assistant coach at Blackburn and PSG, and now assistant coach at Real Madrid. I guess when you haven't played at the top level, you do need to put the hours in to earn the offer of a no.1 position. In interview he's goal is to be a no.1 but he's been patiently building up his experience. He must be incredibly well respected to be getting the roles he's getting.

Without interviewing them both, seeing their presentations of what their about, and speaking to previous players and clubs they've worked with, impossible to call for me. I'm abstaining from the vote!

If say he brings Ray Wilkins as his No2 with him, then i would be happy with his appointment.
He will need an experienced man along side him.

Is it too much to ask for a manager who has been number 1 at a club for at least 1 full season ?

Not sure about either to be honest. Sherwood seems a bit of a loose cannon and would the players respect Clement as he did not play higher than non-league? Just asking - don't want a Moyes situation here.

I think the problem with moyes wasn't his level of playing, but his level of management. His biggest achievement in management was getting Everton top four. He then came in and changed the training that had won man utd premier league titles, FA cups, charity shields, league cups, and champions league titles to the same way Everton trained.

If clement comes to brighton, he will be seen as making changes that see brighton start to train like real Madrid, which will be something the players would respect. (Even if he's actually training his own style different to madrid's, our players won't know)

A moyes situation would be us signing Gary Johnson, and him trying to get the team to train and play like Yeovil.

Wow, this takes me back. To last year, in fact - blind faith being placed in someone based on very little.

As far as I can tell there is absolutely nothing to definitely connect Clement to the Albion so far. The reason he was even on the bookies list in the first place may have stemmed from something as tenuous as a conversation listing some coaches around Europe, and the reason it has firmed up at the bookies because Brighton fans see him having some hallmark Bloom appointment characteristics and were tempted by the initial 28 and 25-1 odds.

If he is actually contacted/has an interview, we'll soon know about it from the odds.
