Already not looking forward to those "he didnt have a full pre-season" excuses

Exactly, most managers will already be well under way with planning for next season, speaking to agents and the like, where as we have Burke playing football manager, no doubt trying to get Obika back on a season long loan.

Club's who are looking for new managers always say within 24hrs, "we have been overwhelmed with the interest in the job"...I wonder what the process is for a manger to apply for a job??? E-Mail, fax, Txt mess, agent, media??? It must be fantastic to see the list of name's who's actually apply. And what if your main target doesn't apply??? Can you/do you approach them??? Surely if someone is in demand then you would think the club would approach them, or would the club not bother if they hadn't applied??? Must be a complete minefield

Agree. Club's must be very frustrated looking for new manager's and not knowing what player's to look for in the meantime. Theres no point signing player's after all until you know who of all the manager's available is actually going to be in charge.

To be a pedant he did say I a lot and that does not preclude his agent from having spoken to the club.

Post 18 before someone with a bit of sense posts!

Does anyone honestly think that the managers that we are interested in have rung the club personally and asked for an application form? Their agents will do all the leg work, sound out the club and see what their client thinks. Wouldn't even be surprised if the first time Bloom speaks to the candidate would be when they do their interview and presentation of their views.

No excuses this year, the buck would stop at Bloom's feet if we flaff around all summer and make appointments and sign players at the last minute.

I have a horrible feeling we are going to drag our feet on manager and player front though

Here's my conspiracy theory. (Get your tin foil everyone)
Betfair Bozo who clearly understands his gambling says only 1 man is punting Sherwood. Our owner, a man who gets the industry to say the least, puts up a stooge to over bet Sherwood, reduce the price and put people off the scent.

Up there with the illuminati and the Olympics?

Just because he has said he hasn't spoken to us doesn't mean nothing as bloom said in that interview on bbc that the club won't disclose any information until the manager has signed, so sherwood might have been told to keep his mouth shut

Maybe. He is clearly a candidate but as the wait goes on, others appear more likely.

Too much X Files perhaps IP old chap! I am 99% sure that TB wouldn't be interested in manager markets (maybe a tad more so if we were a Premier League club because then our next manager position would be available to back or lay on Betfair and as such would be a better guide to what is going on and I am pretty sure he would not want to be open to suggestions of market manipulation, he is WAY too successful a punter for that.)

Also remember that my information is only from one source (Coral) and there are at least four firms with a book. I would be guessing only but I would think that the chap who backed TS the other day has inside information but it could be simply that he knows TS would be open to the position (friend, agent, friend of agent etc) not necessarily that he is frontrunner. In addition, four figures might be insignificant to the chap in question anyway. All relative.

VC was the only firm with prices then though (when he was 1/6.) They price loads of "specials" for eventualities that may never even happen so they will always be artificially short as there is no competition and they don't want to get caught out (the percentage book would read like a Wonga APR...) There was no significance in the 1/6 and there is none in the drift to 4/5.
