Anyone remember the junction ? toppers and rumours and that old classic shithole night fever ??!!

Went to Night Fever a fair few times 1983/84, I actually had a better time in there than places like the Suite, never had a problem getting in ( think they needed the customers :) )
Got turned away from the Pink Coconut more times than I can remember, bouncers usually had some made up excuse.

Don't remember Toppers or Rumours, but I did try and get in The Junction once but I was wearing trainers, I didn't actually plan on going there but got dragged along by others, so I wasn't that disappointed.

Old Shoreham Road :o(
It was indie/grunge/brit-pop when I was there!

I think U2 played their first UK gig there way-back-when as well.

U2 played at the New Regent on West Street in front of about 5 people.
I was in the front bar playing pool and thought they sounded awful, a
few months later live at Red Rocks came out...........

Fair enough. The Basement, when it closed late 96/early 97 was definitely claiming U2 as a gig though before they were famous. I thought, if I recall correctly, no more than that though, that they were claiming first UK gig of U2.

U2 played the Top Rank Suite when War came out in 1983 just after the single New Years Day was in the charts, hottest I've ever been in at a gig, the New Regent must have been a long time before that

Just looked it up , 13th March 1983

I saw them at Jenkinsons, Nov 30, 1980. Supported by the Comsart Angels.

It is probably time I issued a health warning about my posts. I send them before proofing, so they are full of typose. Apologies. And I have the cheek to criticise others? Yes, yes I do.:lolol:

I was an event 2 man myself. Went in the parodox many times
But the event 2 was blinding. Mid to late 90's, dancing with Rosie Gains (let's get close fame) on stage. Then discovered the Escape and the Zap club and lost about 4 years of my memories. The one I do remember is Boy George in the Zap and a mate nicked his hat off his head when he was DJ'ing... He went ****ing MENTAL

Same here although most of my memories remain intact which is not necessarily a good thing ..

Well remember the look of horror on my mother's face after I told her that I had been to the den of iniquity otherwise known as Sherrys!

Despite being born and brought up in Brighton,I've never been to the place in any of its three guises. Does this make me less of a Brightonian?

Yes definitely.

Pink Coconut/Creation/Paradox for me.

Pink coconut was great. At the cricket ground tonight one of the door blokes looked like the black bouncer with all the scars from the coconut event etc, turned out to be his more sensible younger brother.

Three Crowns EP, Roundstone EP, Thieves Kitchen or that pub by Worthing Station then on to Pink Coconut or Sherry's, depending on the year.
Occasionally Bubbles in Worthing. Great times and sad to see it go.
