Same shit everywhere every year... people boo these companies for a day or two but then return to blaming each other, the EU/lack of EU, random politicians, and just go on to talk about whether the common man should pay a percentage or two more in taxes... all while getting sodomised by these dirty, greedy corporations.

Leeds - but not the dirty bit
Which pales into insignificance to the profits of Meta and Google.......yet everyone seems happy to continue using them as households struggle.

Fossil fuel companies profits derive from the price of oil/gas which is high at the moment due to factors everyone is aware of.

Don't confuse them with the gas and electric domestic suppliers.

How much are you paying Facebook or google ? And how much have they put their prices up to you?

Relevance ?

How much are you paying to Shell and Centrica (not the domestic gas/electric suppliers) ?

centrica own british gas so yes they are being paid

Yes Centrica own British gas, British Gas made £98m last year.

Domestic gas and electric suppliers make very little profit compared to their customer base. Stop mixing them up with oil and gas producers, even if they have the same name or are owned by them.

So why aren't the Government taxing the excess profits of these companies, and applying that money to consumers bills?

too complicated for many, just read the headlines. behind Centrica results for example, 1/3 profit is from sale of a business and they've been making loses in previous years. also £367m tax paid. dont hear about that while politicans and twitter posters will queue up to demand a windfall tax.

Ye but that wouldn’t provoke the same outrage

Wonder if people would have been happy to support oil companies like Shell when the price of oil went negative (or close to) in the early stage of the pandemic ….not saying I don’t support some review …but it’s not all about clickbait headlines

Exactly - not sure of the relevance. And fully away of Centrica thanks, just spent 9 years working with them on some fairly major projects

Do Shell provide you with crude oil ?

Centrica is NOT British Gas, British Gas is owned by Centrica and is part of it's overall 'empire'.

I pay my electricity bill to Shell. I gave you their supply website. Ofgem allocated them to us when Pure Planet went bankrupt last October.
