On the flip side though how good were West Brown?

An astonishing performance for a Championship side.

Far too direct for my liking, with their goals the result of long throws into the box, shades of a Tony Pulis side in fact. But hey it works, and their fans won't mind that one bit.

In fact it was Sheffiend United who l have always seen as a direct, long ball side, but they were the victims last night.

What the hell is going on there? They just got absolutely battered, no goals, two losses and a defeat in their first three games. West Brom should've had 6 or 7. Can't believe how they've fallen so far so fast.

Two losses is one thing, but a defeat as well? That's shocking.

Promotion momentum, an unusual playing style it took a while to work out, and an inspirational manager took Sheff Utd to one amazing season. Other teams believed their hype for those heady 9 months.

I'm keeping my finger crossed exactly the same happens to Leeds.

Its quite common that one of the relegated PL teams battle against relegation in the Championship as well and I can see them struggle throughout the season (probably staying up in the end though). They have kept most of their squad and the self-confidence within the squad must be very low after last season and it will take time to restore it.

First choice keeper did not play. Off to Arsenal.

For £30 million!
To be their second choice!
A keeper who's been relegated two seasons in a row!
When they could have probably got Mat Ryan for next to nothing!
Or just kept last season's best goalkeeper last summer instead of selling him to Villa for about half of what they are paying for Ramsdale!

I'm starting to think that we could have got even more for Ben White. Do you get the feeling that Edu might have a toddler who has entered the Fantasy League for the first time and asked his dad if he could create his randomly selected team in real life to see how it would get on?

£30m for a second choice keeper is extraordinary. But I do wonder if they look at his age and think he has considerable scope to get better.

They certainly have a plan Arsenal. Sign promising young British players whatever the cost. Time will tell if it's a good plan. It's unlikely to fire them up the league too much this season, maybe in 3-5 years we'll look at this differently.

I'd love to know how Arsenal do their player research. As you say, spending £30m on Ramsdale whilst having sold Martinez for less than £20m is bizarre. Pepe for £72m? A good player, but not at that price. Willock? Excellent young prospect sold to Newcastle for £22m. Willian - free, but three year contract at circa £200k pw?!! Puts our mistakes in perspective!

Wilder was the driving force behind everything at Shef Utd. Its no suprise to me, its going to take them some time to adjust.

Tight HGP situation so they pretty much needed the new keeper to be English.

They had 8 years in The Prem before they were relegated. Not sure that's a yo-yo side. It does tell us that it is very, very hard to get established in the Prem, even after 8 years.

Is there such a thing as an established Premier League side? I very much doubt it. Other than the two Manc sides, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal of course, all of whom are able to buy themselves out of trouble, if the possibility of relegation looms.

That is the way that it should be though Shirley? No one can afford to rest on their laurels.

Another massive blow to Sheffield United losing their star goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to Arsenal for a cut price £24m. Deeply troubling times for the South Yorkshire club.

Is Ramsdale paying the fee himself to try to ensure he’s not relegated three seasons on the trot? Surely he should be going to Norwich.
