I've not really got an opinion on CKR other than at £150k he's worth a punt. If it doesn't work I reckon we could bin him back to league 1 on loan then if he does okay sell him for a small profit. Same sort of thing we did with Luke Beckett.

However what interests me is how this transfer & others in the last or year or so are going down with BHA fans. I get the impression that many BHA fans think the club's best players are being under-valued & sold off too cheaply.

Since Withdean BHA has given the impressionof being a club unified at all levels with one common goal. But now cracks seem to be appearing. Fans are beginning to become disgruntled with the way the club is being operated at board level, that's my impression. But tell me if the board doesn't get support from the supporters how can the club, in it's current state possibly survive?

This was on another forum I visit. I thought it was an interesting post so have put it on here.

My responce:

£150k, for a player of Kazim-Richards ability, is a joke. He's got bags of ability and potential. He's without doubt, going to be a big player in years to come. Leon Knight, went for the same price. Two players who could have scored 20+ goals at this level. We cant even buy a ****ing Barnet striker for 150k.

Cracks are appearing. The fans are sick and tired of the Falmer situation. A lot of them blame McGhee for last season's relegation. A lot of them are now blaming the board and the manager for not signing a striker.

It's not a good vibe. The board and manager are doing their best but I think we're now feeling, more than ever, the constraints of Withdean. When we first moved to Withdean, we were a club on the up - promotions with Cardiff, Reading, Stoke etc. Players were happy to join us. Now everyone knows we cant compete at a higher level. So we're not an attractive club for prospective players.

We need a change of stadium (maybe manager as well) and certainly investment, none of which is going to happen in the foreseeable future. We either accept this season as most appeared to before 5th August as a case of surviving in this division, or we get all upset and depressed.

I agree with Turkey's response, the club when Adams and Talyor and Coppell (just) was sellable to players, Withdean was only short term, falmer on its way, now Falmer is not confirmed still, Withdean the brief stopping place for the team is into its 7th season. The club does not have the cash blah....

It is the way it is...lets hope Falmer is sorted as that would at least provide a morale boost.

Hang on - let's look at the players sold in the last year or so, and the sums involved:

Currie - £250k (we paid nowt) - Fantastic deal
Virgo - £1.5m (we paid nowt) - Fantastic deal
Harding - up to £850k (we paid nowt) - Fantastic deal
Carole - Free Transfer, but we only got him for free because of this. The deal enabled us to get a year of a skilful player for nothing (save his wages)
Jarrett - Free Transfer - no-one in their right mind on this board would expect us to have got anything for Jarrett
CKR - £150k (we paid circa £55k). Talented, yes, but lazy and temperamental. 6 goals. Compare that to the fee for Burgess, a proven goal scorer (an initial £25k, possibly going to £100k). In my view not a bad deal.

Overall, the club have done a fantastic job bringing in over £2.5m in the past year or so for a bunch of players we paid virtually nothing for.

It seems at the moment virtually everyone on NSC only wants to look at the negatives. As a fan since 1968 I cannot remember ANY period in the past 38 years where we have so succesfully used the transfer market. Until a couple of years ago we had hardly sold anyone for anything (Lawrenson, Ward, Small....anyone else? I seem to remember we got virtually nothing for Nogan, Nelson, or anyone else....)

And not forgtting that a short time before we got £400K for Cullip who I think we paid £50K for. Sadly , as Dies Irae pointed out, the money has gone into the big black hole that is the clubs finances. What should have been windfall money and put us in a very sound financial position has enabled us to do little else than keep afloat.

Is that the black hole also known as costs of getting Falmer (over £3m spent to date)? Or are you accusing the Board of filching the money?

To keep the club alive, yes.

No £2.5m into general club expenses, then we turn into Crawley.

Albion fans really need to have a long look at Crawley and have a think about just how badly off we really are

I like your veiws LI.

you speak alot of sence when there are alot of rash statements made on here.

You can call this arse licking or whatever you want but at the end of the day i doubt any Brighton fan with half a brain acctually expected us to make a signing.

The facts are clear.

We are in a very tight financual situation and it is hard to attract players to come and play for us.

As supporters we are supposed to SUPPORT our club, not moan about it and slag off the people who are trying to run the club in a very difficult time!

Rant over!

Yup, I'll second that. I would absolutely be calling for the head of all involved if we were in the situation of most clubs (i.e. proper ground), but people seem oblivious to the fact that we're not.

The sad thing is, that if we had just moved into Falmer, everything would be looking pretty good with our production line from the Youth Team going so well.

I don't ant us hovering around mid table, but a bit of common sense says that that's the most likely outcome in our situation, even with mourninho in charge (minus his chairman obviously).
