TBH he divided opinion. For 70% of the fans he was a big favourite. Good speed and very attacking. He was a local lad too which made him popular. He played out of position very willingly. For example, he's very left footed but played right back many times. Some saw him as a bit lightweight. I think he has good potential. Whether sitting on your bench or in your reserves rather than playing first team football is good for him, I'm not sure.

He is starting to get a few games now and I think the general consensus is that he fits well into our style. It is early days but he shows promise, has good feet and as you say gets forward well, maybe a bit lightweight at the moment. He has only been played at LB and has done well enough.

Make no mistake if he chooses Millwall over us this is a total embarrassment to everyone involved with the football club.

Potential? Isn't he 27? He should be right at his peak right now.

More chance of getting regular football, a better/longer contract, being played in his preferred position, being familiar with the coaching staff, Ian Holloway being a well known manager, Millwall have had more success recently than us

3 of those are pure speculation, I'll give you the coaching staff and holloway, but not sure millwall are as sucessful.

Glad he isn't joining he sounded like an over age sub. I felt the same for Grabban.
I feel It is a strange policy trying to sign subs who are not young. Sign players that improve the starting eleven or blood youngsters sounds like a better plan.

Can we just bloody well sign some decent players please? How much longer do we have to wait? At this rate, we'll get to 31 January having signed nobody of note. Where the hell is all this ambition we hear so much about? I know all about the cost of Falmer and the upcoming training ground but we need a competitive team as well that is going to be in with a serious shout of promotion. Relying on CMS and Hoskins to make a big difference when they're back would be a costly mistake.

Outbid and outmanoeuvred by Bournemouth and Millwall. It wouldn't happen to the bigger teams in the Championship, that's for sure.

My goodness, I feel fed up with things tonight. I hope the club can pull some rabbits out of the hat before the end of the month to help prevent our season petering out.

Rated by MK Dons. Exactly the sort of player we need and we seem to have missed out.

Alternate comments that he is too slow, I think are amelioration of not getting a player we try to gazump Millwall and failed.

Seriously? I'm sure I'll be accused of lacking ambition but we're 8th in the Championship (with a game in hand to go 6th) and in the 5th round of the FA Cup. Have we really lost so much touch of reality that people can feel so fed up tonight?

Williams had obviously chosen Millwall already from what has been said. That's his choice and up to him. It sounds like he wanted first team football, which we couldn't guarantee. Fair enough. I don't see the need to get so despondent over every signing we don't complete.

If you're going to react so badly, at least wait until the transfer window closes to judge. Or is that too much to ask?

I hope the club doesn't panic and sign someone for the sake of it/just to keep the fans happy (Dobbie? Lita?). I'd rather we sign no one than the wrong one. Having said that, I would be a little disappointed if come the end of the window we haven't replaced the players we lost. Yeah, we're 8th and in the 5th round of the cup, but Kuszczak and Lopez were the only first teamers available who weren't in the squad today. A squad that thin cannot sustain an FA cup run and a successful play off push.

We need more depth to our squad, but I hope we only add the right depth.

That's very much my feeling too.

That statistic is a bit meaningless though. Buckley is hopefully going to be available soon and Bridcutt will either go or be available after this week. We also have CMS and possibly even Hoskins to come back. And they may have been in the squad but we didn't use Bruno, Greer, Ward and Ulloa so we do have a reasonable squad.

I actually agree we need a couple of players. However, I just think that there's a bit of an over reaction to not signing Williams.

And Grabban as well who would have been a very good signing in my view. :)

Fair enough. I think he would have done a job but we move on. I do think we should wait and see what we have when the window shuts rather than judging now. Surely we can enjoy the win today before being too fed up. Hope for a good draw tomorrow and we may even get some really good signings this week.
