Friend of a friend made a LOT of money in the company that developed Bob The Builder, Thomas The Tank Engine etc etc.

He is now looking to do the same with Ludorum PLC, and a pre-school computer-animated series called 'Chuggington' that is currently under development (52 x ten minute episodes) and has already been sold to the BBC, plus France, Germany and Australia. The toy rights have also been sold. Series is due to make the screens Spring 2009. Venture capitalists are also involved.

Chuggington

Oh, and the company has also bought the rights to Dennis & Gnasher out The Beano and are currently making 52 ten minute episodes of that also.

Worth a bit of a punt, I'd say. Shares are currently around 105p - 110p.

Only downside so far as I can see that the verb 'to chug' has various meanings throughout the Western world - most of them unsuitable for broadcast before the watershed

gOOD TIP, PROBABLY.

A FEW years ago I took a tip for a similar series, the day I bought the shares the price rocketed, I paid top dollar.

The series flopped and I lost a lot.

If you look at Bob its a great series and they are now really commercial.

Most of the other in house design series from Hit Entertainment is poor to worst.

My views any way from someone who had his fingers burned.

Just Group were 'the next Hit Entertainment' 5 or 6 years back.

Price went through the roof, relatively speaking, with people sitting on paper profits of many hundred percent, with other new shareholders still buying into the story. Then the company just went bust almost overnight.

Just a quick update for which you will not be charged...

Two years down the line, almost to the day, Chuggington has been sold to over 140 countries. The full-on merchandise just hit the shops. Yesterday Ludorum shares went up 7%, today they went up another 5.75%. Today the shares closed at £3.22.

Probably still a lot of mileage in them, if anybody's got a few bob sloshing around for a speculative punt

thats a decent return for 2 years, 300% right?

but i suspect that will be near the peak, unless the merchanising deals have profit sharing built in, and even then thats already in the price.

I thought if a share went up from 100p to 200p that is a 100% gain.

If it goes up from 100p to 300p, that is a 200% gain (not 300%, as that would make it 400p).
