There's a bit more context as to where this has got to via sun journo Alan Nixon's twitter feed. (ie: according to him - not very far)

He is a good player , international class , so he won't come cheap . We were linked to him for a while as he's comparable to Damien Delaney , he's a good prospect . Grant just went to Newcastle for £5 m so I suppose that's the going rate .

Surely we would start with a low bid and build up bit bt bit

Well yeah, but if the guy is rated at around £5m, £2m does seem a tad low as an opening gambit.

I must say though I do like the look of this guy, and just as I said on the Russell Martin thread, I think that even with Dunk, (if he stays), Goldson, and Huhnemaier at the club, I still think he will get plenty of game time. After all, players get injured or suspended, and lose form during a season.

I'd be very tempted to make a sensible bid for him.

Duffy is a fair player but I think the chairman wants the money from dunk sale, which I think is a big mistake if it happens and he goes

Definately, Dunk, along with Stephens, Kayal and Knockaert are the four players we really cannot afford to lose. Not if we want to make a concerted push for promotion next season anyway.

On what basis ?. Last season in order to ward him off from potential suitors they gave him , despite having refused to play in a League Cup game, the longest (and i guess) most expensive contract ever at the club and turned down a big bid from Fulham in the process. Hardly the actions of a chairman who wants to cash in.
This summer they've, well sourced reports say, turned down £5m, £7m and £8m from premier league clubs.
Bloom has no say over who bids for his players so i'm not sure because Dunk is getting offers it therefore means 'he wants the money from his sale" despite every indication so far is that he wants to hold onto him. They've said it in public countless times for starters and it looks like they mean it.*

* he might still go. Its premier league money for sure. and they might get a silly money offer but by god they seem better at holding their nerve than most.

Exactly. There is no evidence. If I was Bloom and saw comments like that, I'd be really annoyed and think why do I bother. He spent last summer funding an excellent team and rejecting big offers for a couple of players. He funds more players in January and this summer he continues to block moves for our players. Yet people like blazey59 can just make ridiculous comments (with no evidence) saying you want to sell our players. If I was him, I'd be tempted to give up.

As you say, we may sell a player or two but only at a very high price and the funds will be used for replacements.

Have to say that reads like a total load of bollocks without a single word that convinces me that he has significantly more knowledge than I do (and that's the sum of **** all)

With all due respect, he tends to get more right than he does wrong...One of the few I would give any credence to!

Overall impression of Duffy is the sitter he missed last season at the Amex. Dunk would have scored it.

The low transfer fee of £2 million thought to be because he has only one year left on his contract.
