Shaaban - Handling outside the box!!!

I've not seen a free-kick given EVER for this offence.

Where is the consistency in refereeing decision-making that players, managers and fans want? Yes, handling outside the box goes on all the time, but the way to eradicate it is for the FA to announce a policy of zero tolerance clearly to all English clubs, then to enforce it in much the same way as they've done previously for backpasses and two-footed tackles.

I haven't seen the film of the incident, but in my judgement Shabaan did not obviously handle the ball outside the area, or do anything worse than I've seen in all the previous thousands of matches I've watched.

Can't a goallie let the ball bounce, or even just roll the ball outside the area and play it with his feet?

I don't believe there are any restrictions, as long as there are no hands used beyond the area.

Spot on. All you have to do is release it from your hands before it travels out of the penalty box.

Course he can. I've seen keepers roll the ball out of the area and then twat it upfield on many occasions.

I thought every aspect of Shabaan's play on Saturday was poor - handling, kicking, judgement, positional.

I think he could have done a bit better with the 5th goal as well, not that it matters in the great scheme of things.

There is only one Michel Kuipers.

Well I have seen Kuipers do it just on a couple of occassions but in one game alone Shaaban did it 4/5 times.

Just not good enough at any level!!

Fingers crossed for tomorrow!! See you all there.

At Plymouth I thought he was poor and not nearly as good as he thinks he is. Can't see any big clubs coming in for him. Made it clear he was not interested in staying, and agree that on Sat he stayed on his line.
