Not sure the two halves of your statement are in any way connected. Might be being thick here, but seem to recall the PPI thing being a box you either ticked or didn't tick when you signed up for some form of loan agreement or other. Nowt to do with paying interest.

I will bow to your better knowledge, but from the constant stream of calls i get, i keep getting told, "if you have ever paid interest on a credit card or had a mortgage"
You didn't need to sign up for it, it was automatically charged, that's from what i understand is what the oh ha was all about, you got charged for it weather you wanted it or not.
When you took out a credit card or mortgage it was automatically added into the agreement, not as a separate "do you want it or not option".
