Love Tariq. Would hate to see him go.

BUT he came here from Chelsea to get game time over money - which we all agreed was a noble quest. So if he leaves for the same reason we can hardly complain.

He's clearly not yet got back to the dizzying heights of his early appearances. But he is still a good player. Looked useful against Leicester and remain a great player to have on the bench. There is a chance he will regain what he had before, or will develop as a player in other ways to make up for the slight loss of pace. Solly March took 2 or 3 years to really get back to his best after injury...and that was WELL worth the wait. But if Lamptey would rather be playing than waiting, so be it. I absolutely do not have it in me to wish him anything but the best.

Just hope we have someone equally good lined up if he goes...and I'd bet that we do.

Interesting one then, 2 stories have come out in a week and Brighton clearly briefing some press that they don’t want him to leave. Still not impossible it’s not whoever is his agent though, family or not

Lamptey was involved in 7 goals (winning penalties/free kicks or being one of the last three on the ball) in 11 games in 2020/21 before getting injured... he was at that point the most obvious £50m+ Brighton player I've ever seen.

As has been mentioned earlier Tariq is in the squad and gets game time in most matches. Given how our results and performances are going I would say he gets the playing time his talents deserve.

I wouldn't imagine that he will be a definite starter elsewhere and if we were to go on loan I would expect him to be in a similar situation. He looks keen and eager on the field and to be a player we need to retain.

It's a difficult one with Tariq. He was outstanding during the covid season, anyone disputing that is totally on one. He's had a few good appearances off the bench and is a 'last 25' option we can't really afford to lose at the moment, but he hasn't come close to that level of performance since coming back from injury. It must be frustrating for him that he isn't getting regular games, but I think there is still an element of the club being cautious with his minutes given the nature of his injury and how long he was out for.

Really hope he stays with us and refinds his spark, he's a fantastically talented and seemingly down to earth guy.

Why wouldn't he be a regular starter if he went out on loan for half a season? Not every team is top 7 or 8 PL standard - I bet Forest or Southampton, for example, would love to have him, or anyone pushing for promotion from the Championship. If he comes back to us like he was before his injury .............

I don't want to see him go - certainly not permanently - but can see why there are pros as well as cons for letting him go on loan.

I guess you can’t blame him wanting a move when he see’s RDZ playing Gross in front of him at right back.
Not sure how he’s meant to get back up to speed without regular game time.
The end of last season he came on against West Ham and was superb. RDZ needs to find a place for him in the side possibly as a right sided winger.

He was a proper Billy Whizz wasn't he. . . . Still quick enough to casue trouble.

Also has some versatility, didn't he get slung on at left back, and survived to tell the tale. . . Its a squad game now, and he's a very valid part of it.

Yep - needs more time and a run in the team to see if he can emulate that. Short memories writing him off this soon.

Surely Tariq can’t go through his whole career wanting a move when he’s not playing. Especially as the club was so patient / careful with his lay off

I’ve always wondered if moving him further forward and fewer of the really explosive sprints is a deliberate ploy. Players with that sort of pace can have persistent hamstring trouble so maybe he’s just learning how to look after his body by changing his game a bit. He’s still very rapid. Writing him off is premature in my opinion - and the views that he was never any good… nuts. He was fantastic when he first burst on to the scene. Unplayable. Very glad it sounds like RDZ wants to integrate him somehow.
