I think he's got a future in the game but he's a year or two away from being able to get back to where he was. I'd extend his contract and get him out on loan to play regular football and then see whether we can integrate him back into our team. We could be letting a £30m player leave for a third of that otherwise. It might be that he wants to move on, which is fair enough if he does but hopefully not.

I think he's still clearly a talented player but it was his pace that made him special.

Since his injuries he's almost looked reluctant to take the handbrake off for fear of re-injuring himself. It makes sense; can understand why he wouldn't want to do himself any further damage.

Personally would prefer to keep him for this season for the depth he provides but, as ever, I'll trust the club know what they're doing.

How long are we going to keep trying? Almost three years since his injury and with the odd exception he's just not been good enough.

Well, that's the point I was trying to make.

Is it better for us to sell for £8-10m and make a small profit and free up some wages/a squad place for a new player. Or stick with him and try and get him back to his best when he was being touted as a £40m player.

God I must view everything through blue and white striped tinted glasses. I think Tariq is a serious baller who would thrive under RdZ when fully recovered. Loved his cameo (and goal and celebrations) v Arsenal in the Carabou Cup

Absolutely love Tariq.

Would love him to to stay, get fit, win his place back and kick on to be the player we all know he can be ..... but I've got a nagging feeling that it's best for all parties if he goes to Lisbon and rebuilds from there

Is his other problem, systems as well. He looks very much a specialist wing back, more running, more chance to get up and down. Right back doesn't accentuate his strengths in the same way
