What do you mean by mixed?

Mixed sex?
Mixed race?
Mixed ability (decent & crap)?

I'd go for Miss Williams every time.

Possibly Serena given her staying power - something that eludes Tiger Tim usually during the second week of Wimbledon

It's a no brainer. Henman would piss all over her.

When Martina Navratalova was at her peak, she was regularly beaten by her tennis coach.

Henman lost to a guy who had a very powerful serve, and was serving well. Her 'powerful' game would not give a match to many men on the tour.

There's not one physical sport where women can compete with men - it's down to strength.

I would bet £10,000 on Tim every time.

Blimey - few contentious statements in there aye?

Being beaten by your tennis coach is a bit different to playing in a competitive final where drive determination and mental strength count every bit as much as physical strength. So I'd go Williams every time. Plus I suspect she's actually STRONGER than Tiger Tim - have you seen those thighs?

looking at it for a little while i do reckon henman would win with a comfortable amount of ease. she just wouldnt pass him when hes at the net. her serve will be nothing compared to what he usually faces and i feel that he would beat her easily. people are going to vote serena because the way they look at henman at the moment but honestly i feel henman would quite easily beat her

As a tennis follower I can tell you that Serena could not beat Henman. In 1998 she played a mixed singles match against a male player ranked 150th (145 places lower than Henman) called Karsten Braach, and he stuffed Serena. Its best not to compare men to women. As they have very different bodys.

rain stops play

Serena Williams strangles cliff richards meaning a 6-month ban ('she does nothing wrong' - we agree) and Henman quits meaning we never know

shame.

Tom.

Which part is contentious?

Just because Tim Henman has never won a grand slam, this makes Serena more competitive? Is it down to the way they express themseleves on court? Bjorn Borg was never very expressive, but was very competive.

As for women V men in sport. There's not one sport where they compete on equal terms. If there is, please correct me.

Serena is beating women whose serves are very tame by comparison with those in the mens game. Also, the ground strokes by men are much harder.

FACT - Tim would walk it - in fact most men on the ATP tour would beat her easily.

Henman would win. End of. Serena is a better player in her sex then Henman is in his, but in a straight match up Henman would win. Williams' serve would not be the weapon it is in the womens game.

She'd beat him in a fight though.
