Sergio Garcia - Daft Racist??

Tiger and Sergio have been bitching each other for years.
It kicked off again at Sawgrass a couple of weeks ago.

Absolutely nothing to see here.

Sergio was wrong to say what he did but Woods is a complete 'cock' - he doesn't understand the concept of sportsmanship and when Sergio sees him get away with his cheating antics at the Masters and then disrupt his shot at Sawgrass when be blatantly told a lie which the course officials didn't back up - he deserves to be brought down a peg or three.

At the end of my tether
"Unless I'm missing summat I really can't see what the fuss is about?"

Same here... Unless it is a big American joke thing that we do not get...It seems no different to me saying e.g.that my Indian mate could, no doubt, find me the best curry...Is that racist?

Seems that the media are quick to jump on to any little thing they can twist into a story

So it's racist to say black Americans like fried chicken (which they really do) and yet there's no real issue with associating Irish with potatoes, Italians with Pasta, Germans with Sauerkraut, Chinese with rice etc.

in your attempts to assume racism with no real evidence you absolute **** , we've just seen a soldier wearing a help for hero's t shirt butchered by 2 blacks in woolwich which which is choc full of somalian muslims, I know what I'm assuming happened, let's watch you and all the other right on tosspots condemn me for this, ****.

2 BRITISH black muslims.

RE Tiger & Sergio. The dispute really covers golf in a bad light. Sergio should have realised that what he said had rasict overtones but he apologised immediately, a bit of a storm in a teacup really. The two of them need their heads banging together as my mum wouldn't have said.

If Garcia's problem had been with KJ Choi and he'd have said "Don't worry, I'll invite him round for some crispy aromatic duck and chicken chow mein" would there have been a problem? Similarly, with Adam Scott and throwing some prawn on the barbie, or Thomas Levet and frogs legs.

I suppose the comment FEELS racist, but why? Everybody likes fried chicken, it's not as if he's inviting KJ Choi round to eat grilled grasshoppers on a skewer.

If Garcia's problem had been with KJ Choi

........ there would have been a few raised eyebrows if he had asked him round for a light lunch of braised Doberman thighs

Not saying I agree with it, but I think it is because the term is used in the US as a stereotypical derogatory manner for "poor black" people. No-one uses the term "rice-eater" in this way, as far as I know, so no-one can be offended.

Jesus wept. I'd suggest a 'chill pill' but I don't think you'd be able to find one big enough.

I think if any of them wanted to know wht it was racist they would have looked it up for themselves, but most of them would rather just have a rant about PC gone mad, etc

Get over what? The fact that you can't understand the racist conetations of fried chicken with regard to black Americans? Do you really need a history lesson?
This is really all very simple: Bushy doesn't understand racism, and nothing we say will change that.

I hear Woods has said he is deeply saddened and offended by the comment.

I prefer to think he understands it all too well & agrees with it, the iconoclastic scamp that he is.
I think his point what 'if the situation was reversed and woods said he would have Garcia over and they would cook paella' was an understandable question to ask, and many people won't see the difference. To me, the differences are that Spain doesn't suffer a lot of racism from the US and Sergio would probably be happy that Tiger had gone to the trouble of making a Spanish dish for him - whereas Sergio's comment was purely because Tiger has black heritage (as opposed to just american), and it is seen as an insult. If Sergio had said he'd make him burgers, it wouldn't have been a problem.

All that aside, I like Sergio and think Tiger is a ****.
