Interesting because he signed a new contract with them just last month lol

"On 25 April 2024, with weeks of his contract remaining, Conceição signed a new deal to last until 2028; the news came before presidential elections at the club"

That extension came as a surprise as there were speculations for months he'll leave when his contract is up. Was probably politically motivated by former Porto president too.

I think he's leaving because Andre Vilas-Boas who was elected as new Porto president wants to bring his manager. Interested who that will be. I've seen them linked to Gasperini but he's now apparently close to renew with Atalanta (I like him to stay there so good news if true).

This guy is the head dick dickhead of dickheads and isn't getting a pay check from us unless THPP becomes our director of football.

Even most Porto fans despise him due to his negativity and uncontrolled temper.
He's a fantastic manager if you're Jorge Pinto da Costa and in complete economical and political power of your league, but his sideline anger and pressure of the referees is not going to work here. Or in Europe, which is why Porto sacked him.

This. Great manager but will turn many teams away with his antics. Somewhat similar to Mourinho but without success he had in his prime years and I doubt Conceicao will come close to that level.

Think his hot head will fit in well at Marseille (at least for a few months, lol) so not surprised they are interested.

also, I would take Amorim over Conceicao every day. Not as good or developed tactically yet (but he's also 10 years younger) but much more likeable personality. Doesn't look likely he'll leave Sporting this summer though. Which is probably a good thing as I believe he still can learn a lot there and make a step forward in CL which will be important for bigger clubs possibly considering him next year.

He sounds like RDZ squared.

Why does a great manager come with the electricity of a hothead? Is it compulsory?

His Porto team were very convincing in the champions League last season. Wouldn't be disappointed with him

Sweeping generalisation here but seems to be a Portuguese thing.
Abel Ferreira the current head coach of Palmeiras is constantly getting carded or sent off for his touchline antics.

It may be that someone (no names) in the Portuguese Primeira Liga began the touchline antics around 20 years ago, in an effort to let the fans know he had passion. Other managers in that league, not wishing to be accused of lacking passion, followed suit, and Bob's your uncle.

Amorim would be my number one choice here but, as I've said on a couple of other threads, we've missed the boat there and Sporting is by far the better gig for him. Could well end up at a big six Premier League club at some point. Liverpool if Slot doesn't work or Spurs if they tire of Ange.

While I actually agree Ruben Amorim would be a fantastic choice - very high on my list - I don't think we've missed "the boat". Allegedly he wants £10m a year and in either case he'll probably want to double his £2.5m salary, none of which is happening here. And of course all of that would be dependent on the bloke wanting to leave a much bigger club that he could be coaching in the CL next season. You're right he'll most likely be in a Big 8 club in due time, but coaching us... I don't think he's even thought about it.

That's what I meant, Brighton would now be a step down. Would have had to have found him earlier in his career.
