Sorry, but some of you are confusing residence with nationality. It matters not that Aurier has lived in France since 2006, or any other date, it does not make him a French national. He is an Ivory Coast national, with the right to live, work , do what he likes whilst in France. However, the minute he wants to leave France and go to another country whose visa regulations state that an Ivory Coast national needs to have a visa to travel, then he is subject to visa requirements. He can only become a French national by applying to the French authorities to become a naturalised cirizen. If and when that happens, he will be an EU citizen and free to travel etc. Until then he is stuck with things.
