I don't think that's true at all.
It's more just there HAS to be a point where an anniversary is just an anniversary and not a whole day of mass hysteria.
11 years seems a good point to call it 'history' and downscale the whole coverage. In the US it was MUCH less than in previous years and that was reflected in coverage here.

Maybe. Anyway, I don't actually believe we have had that much coverage most years anyway, just seems like less after last year's tenth anniversary. As regards the television coverage I was asking a friend of mine at the BBC about the film version of Neil Labute's play, The Mercy Seat (set in the immediate aftermath of 9/11) and if it was going to be shown at any point this year to mark the 11th year and his reply was "No, didn't know there was a film of it and if there was we wouldn't be showing anything linked with terrorism during London 2012". So I think there is some credence to my belief.
