That's all well and good but how many deaths in one incident must it take before someone receives a life sentence.
This bell-end had been done for excessive speed before and was obviously an accident waiting to happen.
It's about time these totally selfish self obsessed f*****s copped some real consequence for their selfish life destroying peacocking.
Excessive speeding is listed as a level 2 offence. Only level 1 offences would be eligible for life sentences. I’m not clear on what a level 1 offence is or why excessive speeding does not count as level 1. I can’t think of how you can be much more reckless than doing 110mph on a non-motorway road.

It would also appear that he will have had reductions in his sentence for pleading guilty, being seriously injured himself and, possibly, the fact that the victim wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

What a cop out.
He'd no choice but to plead guilty when he would've been made aware he was caught on multiple cameras driving like a twat.
I'm glad he injured himself but I bet he makes quite the remarkable recovery (sadly not an option for his victim) and I would only accept him needing full time lifelong care as a reason for reducing his sentence.
Too many of these c***s are getting away with light sentencing.

A 30mph car that is absolutely perfect for centre London, Paris, New York etc, isn't a perfect car for driving up a valley in order to relocate your sheep into another field.

In much the same way 4 tonnes of 4 wheel drive, individually locking suspension, winch, bullbars, isn't needed in Hove.

Sports Utility Vehicle -in a parrellel universe the car industry could have spent the last 20 years and gazillion pounds investing in people and the planet by going small, but where's the profit in that.

Strength of evidence is not a factor when someone pleads guilty according to the rules. Does seem odd to get any credit for pleading guilty when the evidence is clear cut.

As for making a remarkable recovery he did have his leg amputated, so it seems unlikely.

I've recently started uploading my dash cam footage to the police as there are some properly dangerous wankers on the road. In the last couple of weeks alone I've had a couple of very near misses due to people not paying attention.
One guy I reported was shocking, speeding into oncoming traffic, cutting up several people, using the bus lane to undertake multiple cars, doing at least 40 in a 20, and the police sent him a letter!
This twat was driving one of those huge Ford Rangers, he would've (and probably will do at some point) done some serious damage had he made contact with anyone, but for whatever reason the police seemed to care very little.
I don't know how much more evidence can be provided for them to prosecute.

And once again, the court has decided that in the not-too-distant future, this man should be considered a fit person to drive a car. He will never be a fit person to drive, and he should never be given the chance to prove that.
If you’ve shot and killed someone, would you be allowed to have a gun licence again 14 years later? I’d hope not. Can’t see much difference.

Driving is a really weird one under the law, instead of being guilty and getting a punishment you get warning after warning (points on license).

If someone sat down and rewrote the laws you’d think speeding would mean an actual punishment (lose license for x months/years).

Trouble is a lifetime ban wont prevent him or other criminals from driving again.

I believe Sussex Police require three independent reports to follow up a particular driver, don't let this discourage you.

The report I read didn't mention previous speeding convictions. It did mention it was his parent's car though. The word "No" is so undervalued in parenting. It doesn't matter if you apply it to a 2 year old or a 22 year old. Great work indulging this one!

It's hard to think of a single aspect of our obsessive car culture that is a positive.

From these senseless murders ('well technically this isn't murder' - 'f**k off') to 'I must park outside my house irrespective of the pavement and double yellow lines'.

We're absolutely enslaved to these bloody things and one way or another they're killing us all.

I write that as a person who really really likes the new Peugeot 208 and fantasies owning one.

My mother can get out of the house and go places and see things. She couldn't so that without a car. There's a positive.

Good way of minimising the time and effort they have to put in when only one or two people provide information, I guess.
