Just wear a cocktail dress …. job done …. but make sure it matches that nail varnish you were wearing the other evening.

Take your pick. If anyone questions anything pour a bit of brandy on them and flambé

Not your brandy obviously, that would be a waste.

My guess would be shirt, trousers and shoes - no jeans, no trainers. Casual jacket to accompany if needed but no tie.

...and no animal print shirts, this isn't the 1901 club

HT, it’s a three piece suit but the informality of a semi does not necessitate the following to my mind:
Cummerbund
Monocle
Walking cane
Snuff box
Top hat
Silk scarf
Gloves, leather, preferably from an endangered species
Pocketwatch
Pocket square
Cloak

I’d still opt for cufflinks and cravat mind, plus freshly picked buttonhole using a September flower. Obviously.

I had a wedding invite with "Summer Semi-Formal" - no-one I was going with had any idea what it meant. We all wore what we thought would do, and the variety at the wedding was wide enough to incorporate almost any interpretation. Even jeans.

Gigging at the Yapton Caravanners Jamboree and Jumble was always a highlight for Rod and the lads
