Selling on tickets

TBH I can't be alone in thinking of the term 'face value' as meaning 'what I paid for it' - ie it's a moral thing, not a technical one.

Always best to pass on or buy at face value, imho. I don't want to mug someone off if I'm buying a ticket for something that isn't going to sell out - nor when I have a spare for something that will sell out. Because I'd want them to do the same to me.

Agreed if you are offering, but not if some Oik wants to save a fiver by not buying from the shop.

By face value does mean whats printed on the 'face' of the ticket.

Anyhow, this game is now sold out, so if that bloke was quibbing over a cpl of quid, he has probably missed out - Good!

Its YOUR ticket. You're entitled to [TRY to] sell it for whatever you like [up to face value].

Its up to them if they want to buy it, of course...

Err this is believe it or not, against the law.

IT'S ILLEGAL TO SELL ON FOOTBALL TICKETS, AND IT WILL BE THE SAME FOR THE OLYMPICS, SO WHY NOT CONCERTS?
Under anti-hooligan measures, it is illegal to sell tickets outside a football ground and a tout can be fined up to £5,000 if caught outside one.

If it goes to a fellow Brighton fan, I would never charge anymore than a tenner for an over 16.. and I hive them away free for under 16's.

I'm not really in a position to give things away for free. If i could, I would but we're not talking money to be spent on booze. This is lunch money, travel to work money (and at work i earn 4:35 an hour to be spent on the Albion usually - peterborough was expencive and i'm needing a bit of cash to see me through the week)

YES WE ALL KNOW THAT!

but this is one Albion fan to another, if your mates were selling tickets to each other in the pub would you be giving them the same lecture?

The original cost of the ST is irrelevant, can't see what's wrong with charging up to the one-off match price.

I agree.

If nobody wants to pay that, he won't sell it. If somebody does want to pay that then he's happy and they are happy. What's the problem with that?

To be honest this thread was more asking the question of if it was unfair to ask for the match day price. Usually I wouldn't ask for more than 15 but I needed the cash, and yes its illegal but i'm not looking to make a profit out of it, or am i encouraging fans without a ticket to show up enmasse. The police won't actually care.

Can't see anything wrong in the buying/selling of tickets and somebody may want the best price but the market will decide.

As for those just fishing for a cheap ticket, watching football is no longer cheap especially if you have a family and home to run. I couldn't commit to every game so the chance of a discount ticket is something i certainly go for.

Wish i was there tonight but P'boro & Charlton as 2 away games in Oct plus Saints in November, I just have to sit some out but I'll be there on saturday and will be paying FULL PRICE!
