The guy was signed for nothing, and we are making £250k inside 6 months.

He was only on a 1 year deal, so we were 6 months from him leaving for NOTHING!

The money, combined with the windfall from the Cup-tie may mean we can spare a few quid for a loan signing or two. Previously, we simply could not.

Lack of cash could cripple this club, receiving this sort of cash makes things easier for a bit.

What a massive incentive it is for the others to perform !!! Look guys, don't get depressed about the situation here, pull yer finger out, play well at this level and you could be knocking on the door of the Prem.

I know it's not nice to think of players working their socks off for the Albion to better themselves with a move elsewhere, but WAKE UP that's the real World. Anything that offers them the incentive to give an extra 5% helps our cause. C'mon Leon, if the effort you've shown the last few games had been all season, that may have been you !!!!

Maybe I'm alone, but the good points outweigh the loss of an excellent deliverer of a ball, which currie undoubtedly is. Too often we didn't have the striking power to make the most of his crosses anyway.

Take off the rose-tinted spectacles mate, and get real.

Where are the goals that are going to keep us in this division going to come from now?...

Shoreham of course
Good News = We have made a profit,
Bad News = Currie was the only player that created decent chances

Gritt 23, have you taken leave of your senses ?

Darren Currie was our ONE HOPE of staying up this season. He is the best player we have had since Bobby Zamora. He was the only player in the team capable of taking a corner or free kick, he could deliver a 70 yard pass and land it on a sixpence, the opposition were all terrified of him, and the fella has basically been carrying the team ever since we set foot back in this division.

And for what ? £250 grand ? Half of that will go on Dick Knights new yacht, and the rest will be pissed up the wall at the Christmas party. Meantime, the board carry on delaying and delaying over Falmer, taking the club to the brink of bankruptcy. Its all one big plan to get us relegated, cos everyone knows we can't afford to play in this division anyway.

What about Jarrett getting a run in the side? He's done okay. It's sad that Currie's gone, but we'll cope - we always do!

I agree with Gritt23.

A decent crosser of the ball on his day - with no decent sized striker to get on the end of it - or £250,000 in the bank??

:)

Surely, unless you are Martin Hinshelwood, you replace the striker or get relegated?

Well perhaps we may now be able to afford a good striker on loan. And if we can't even after getting this cash in, then by christ this money is a life-savers because the finances are worse than we realise.

The offer was FAR too good to turn down, and if we can get a couple of loan players in return for a small % of the money we've got from Ipswich then great stuff.

Currie was a very good signing, but I never bought into the whole "best crosser of the ball this club has ever had" stuff.

That was the rose tinted brigade Pavilionaire. I'm being a realist, there is no way we could turn this deal down, and with a small re-investment of the funds we could easily be a better team for it.

Well played Dick on striking the deal.
Well played MM on signing Currie in the first place, when no-one else seemed to want him.

I have just found out this news and to be honest I cannot understand the club. If you look at anything good we have done this season Currie was involved. Yes it is £250k more then we had, yes it is a £250k profit but what is £250 when next season we will be back to Torquay on a Tuesday night and having to waste are "free" cup ticket on some poxy LDV Vans game.

Currie was good, but he wasn't THAT good. I never saw him run a game in the style of, say, Sidwell or Danny Wilson. To say he was our only creative player is absolute BOLLOCKS. How about Knight, Jarrett, Jones, even Hart when he feels like it...? Oh, and Richard Carpenter takes a pretty mean free kick as well.

Pav, you are wearing the rose-tinted spectacles in your appraisal of Currie.

I've not said Currie was Zidane, I've just stated the bald fact that he is the ONLY player who has consistently been creative this season.

Joe Royle is not stupid. He can see the value in a player who, as far as crossing goes, is Premiership standard. Ipswich have good strikers who will convert these chances and I think the deal is good business for Ipswich. He may not start many games put he'll play an improtant part for them.
