Self-Checkouts In Supermarkets

You don't seem to have a huge amount of choice about using them for 'small shops' nowadays, since it's either the main checkouts with trolleys or sel-service. I quite like them, but it pisses me off when you have one staff member trying to help about 10 of them. The shop is already saving enough on staff costs by having them, at least have enough staff to supervise when things go wrong!

Also good for nicking the odd garlic bulb or suchlike as well!

In fact i hardly do the shopping but if i did i would take the biggest trolley full to the top and take 3 hours to scan it just to f*** off all the basket people. Then maybe they would think i am going save a job and use the nice lady with the moustache at the checkout.

Why the f*** should we be complicit in supermarkets aim to consign their checkout staff to the dole?

Becuse it makes our lives easier?

It doesn't tho. It just replaces one queue with another. And one more full of half-bright drongos than the queue for the checkout. At least that queue has somebody with a vested interest in keeping things moving.

I think if people could think ahead a bit more and everyone complained about these stupid self scanning and pay at the pump to the customer services just maybe we could start to slow up the modern pace of life.

Power to service and no short cuts please.

Self-service doesn't replace checkouts, though - they are in addition, as an alternative for your convenience. Allegedly.

Surely that's the aim of the greedy supermarkets, there highest cost must be their staff?

You have a point there, it's not hard to slip something into your bag without scanning it. Personally I don't mind them but as was said previously some items need the intervention of an assistant. The other thing I've seen quite a few times are people queuing up to use a self service machine when their are tills that are free. Granted seeing somebody who is utterly clueless is annoying as are people who fart about at cashpoints.

The scan one bag two items trick doesn't work because the weight is wrong and a bagging alert (flashing red light) occurs because where the bags are placed everything is weighed. Anything with an age restriction has to be authorised which already happens at a manned checkout and is a legal requirement to allow the sale.

And have they reduced their staff as a result - I doubt it. And clearly they are businesses, and as such are there to make a profit, they are not charities. If you don't like them, vote with your feet.

Drive by abusing
When used for their correct reason which is for a few items in a lunch hour etc then they're great. When cocks use them to put a whole weeks shopping through or try buying something they KNOW will require staff verification then they defeat the objective of them. Especially when the member of staff would rather stand gassing with their colleague than sort out the problem at hand.

I like them , purely because

a) I understand how to use them
b) I never buy much at supermarkets anyways
c) it's ALOT better then being stuck behind some old fart pissing around with there change and having a chat with the checkout assistant for 10 f**king minutes
You will be an old fart one day so show some respect for the senior citizens:angry:

I just detest supermarket shopping full stop, the whole experience is draining, soul destroying, & I hate it.

Hate the bloody things -"unidentified object in bagging area" and "please place item in the bag" (even though you already have) - Bollocks!
