I hate it when people are clueless as to how to use them and waste everyone in the queue's time stabbing away at the little buttons before eventually calling an assistant 5 minutes after they encountered the problem. Also, idiots who take a whole flipping trolley when the service is not intended for them.

That is all.

I will never understand why people with a weeks shopping go through them. They should be for 10 items or less only! Otherwise whats the f***ing point!

It's pointless going through with alcohol as the assistant has to come over anyway and verify that your 18. They do my head in!

I think thy're COOL, I can use them quickly and easily enough, in fact I find myself rushing to get stuff in the bag whilst inputting my PIN at the same time and I PANIC myself into hurrying up....then I'm amazed at how quick the whole process was!

All for the cost of a job!

Exactly, I'm there with a single f***ing pizza and some clown decides they'll take their trolley there to avoid the queues at the tills and then spent nearly twice the time they would have done waiting buzzing each little item through with the customary f*** up every other minute.

I like them , purely because

a) I understand how to use them
b) I never buy much at supermarkets anyways
c) it's ALOT better then being stuck behind some old fart pissing around with there change and having a chat with the checkout assistant for 10 f**king minutes

I've tried them a couple of times and won't be using them again. There's the double fear of a) accidentally scanning something through twice and paying over the odds for your shopping and b) accidentally not scanning something through and being done for shoplifting. When the technology's improved to the point whereby you can place your basket of shopping down on the pad and it tots it up on the spot then I may be persuaded to have another go. Until then, thanks but no thanks, don't need the aggro.

Would be good to hear a shoplifters assessment

You have a point there, it's not hard to slip something into your bag without scanning it. Personally I don't mind them but as was said previously some items need the intervention of an assistant. The other thing I've seen quite a few times are people queuing up to use a self service machine when their are tills that are free. Granted seeing somebody who is utterly clueless is annoying as are people who fart about at cashpoints.

Well i think they are a good idea and maybe some supermarkets should have more of them as currently when it is busy such as lunchtimes i find that there are big queues everywhere but there are still a few checkouts that are unmanned - why haver them when they won't be used and when you can have extra self service tills which will speed the whole process up for everyone whether using a manned till or self service

Well its probably a good thing that each item has a weight and by putting it into a bag the system can check the items weight is correct before letting you scan the next item - thus stopping people from doing either scanning twice or placing items in without scanning them at all.
