Someone i know put my name up for Dont forget your toothbrush, with Chris Evans about 1994, it was for the part of the show where they filmed your house and told you to chuck various items out of the window.
I had a phone call one day asking me all sorts of various questions and i thought it was tv survey.
I didn't know anything about this show but the person that put my name up for it said i would have been on it but i had said i thought Chris Evans was a tw@t on the ( tv survey) phone call. The phone call was of course the shows researcher.

That's a hell of a wide subject area. Some are very narrow. I wonder how much effort the producers/researchers put into ensuring rough parity between contestants. A winning team on University Challenge, eh? Impressive stuff (assuming he contributed to the team effort, of course ).

Afraid I never saw the show you were in, so am unable to wind you up about it....

Gwylan was very good. He also appeared in a '20 years later' version of University Challenge featuring some of the winning teams now in their forties and did well there too.

Yeah, the choice of Shakespeare was one of the worst decisions of my life: I've got a good knowledge of the subject but some of the questions were very obscure. One of my fellow contestants' questions were on Richard Thompson and I knew more of his specialist subjects than I did of mine :lolol:

Apart from UC and MM, I did the audition for some computing based quiz show but didn't get on it: I wasn't quite geeky enough - not sure the show was ever broadcast. It looked like it was aimed at some very special people

I was on Wogan's Perfect Recall about 4 years ago, won £10,000.

I was on Sky Sports' 'Take it like a fan', at the Amex, filmed during the home game v Blackpool 2 seasons ago. I won a quiz thing, to win the right to take a penalty at half time in front of the North stand, to win £500. Dan East the devt squad keeper was in goal.

Walt Jabasco was on the same show, doing a different quiz part. He went double or quits and lost the lot.

And..DID YOU SCORE? The tension is killing me!

I was on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I won but it was taken away from me after some MORON kept coughing during all my correct answers and they said it ruined the recording.

I was on DLTs " pot black" radio quiz. Got as far as the yellow.

He didn't try and bum me or anything. Probably because it was on the radio mind.

My year's school bully got on there - was the only person I have ever seen to win only 500 quid, as he was so thick. How the hell he got the first question right in the fastest time is a mystery. Rumour is he ended up having to give the money back as he lied on his application, having spent some time at her majesty's pleasure. A fine example of the Mid Sussex education system . At least he tried, I suppose.

Looks like we were in the same school at the same time only I was a year below you.

Yes he had to give it back.

I always wondered if there was ever any truth in the rumour about him and a dog and a jar of peanut butter.

"Sale of the Century" hosted by Peter Marshall not Nicholas Parsons ... on Sky One ..... I won 4 shows before being knocked out in the fifth ... back then you had to win ten shows to get the car.... did end up with a load of tat though!! ... I was there on the same filming days as the episode with Simon Cowell, although I wasn't in the same heat.... he was on after me (they filmed 10 over two days and put us up in a cheap hotel overnight). Of course he wasn't Simon Cowell then ... well he was but he wasn't known (if you know what i mean!)

A year or so later was on "15 to One" --- think I was knocked out around half-way!

:OHad forgotten about that! Oh yes, bound to be truth in it . He was actually a wuss and if you stood up to him he left you alone, like most bullies. He was invited along to Viccy Park in HH for a "discussion" one evening by a friend mine and he didn't turn up - did not bother us after that. I last saw him in Car Park of Tesco's in Burgess Hill with a car full of scrap metal, no doubt on his way to raise some funds for one of his habits.

You must have been in the year of the all-conquering Rugby team, most of whom seemed to end up playing for the decent HH side of the late 80's, early 90's. And Harlequins.

Anyway, we digress....

I was the scrum half in the all conquering Rugby team. Only ever beaten once in all 5 years and then they had to put us up against Public School Boys to do it.

And Nick went on to play for England B.

Indeed he did - I was big mates with the fly half (well his brother in school and then both after school). Nice one!

Edit: - and Nick's brother at 6th Form.

Yes he did, and then the bellend gave half to the guy he beat to get to the money stage.

Sadly, this is true, but the deal was done, prior to the first bit. I'm sure he'd have done the decent thing too, had he won...
