In addition to that, though, as others have said, police and stewards were turning people back from the chip van area and so you had hundreds of people pushing towards the South Stand and others who were still heading in the other direction towards the ramps and the train station. So two large groups of people, crushing against each other as they headed in opposite directions.
Hmmm I am flip flopping as to whether to let my sons go (9 and 11). Originally I was thinking not mainly due to school night, but now there are school strikes I was more tempted. But now this thread has me lurching towards not taking them again.
Its only away fans - be impossible for home fans as anybody who has a STH guest ticket will have the STH's name on it on their name

NW exit was closed isnt that against health and safety i.e. no emergency exit?

The club say: "As with previous matches against Crystal Palace, the club will be also implementing various safety measures towards the end of the match, where supporters leaving the Amex to reach the coach park, park and rides and car parks, will be directed clockwise to reach their destination." Now its not overly clear WHICH car parks they refer to as the one at BACA Bridge would be ludicrous to walk there clockwise from East and North (and if there is a 'wall' preventing movement by South impossible). BUT trains are affected unless you make it clear ONLY walk clockwise for the coach/ParknRide.car pk (except Bridge) . But the messages doesn't mention trains. Perhaps I didn't read it properly BUT given many will have read this thread on here and haven't pointed that out Im assuming there WILL be plenty confused and going in all directions. Add to that police and club talking different languages and yeah I can see how it all got messed up previously. I seem to recall this was fed back to the club afterwards but really the club are at the mercy of the police if they don't comply with what the club have in mind and tell fans. If the police read it everyone goes clockwise I can see how the confusion arises.
I’m sure in the event of emergency the fans will be able to use the emergency exits.
that makes more sense to do, last year leaving the north and having to head to the coach park was absolutely ridiculous and dangerous, the crush was horrible especially for my son who’s not very big for 9 years old….. will definitely be taking this route thanks

What the club want is for you to leave and at the exit turn left. The down side is that you'll be meeting head on those from the rest of the ground who have to walk from the west all the way round to get to the coaches and P&R
Won't know until we're leaving the stands. The official line so far is you'll have to turn right and go by way of the south stand to get the the bridge.
But that is what I want to do, namely come out of the East Stand Upper and simply turn left to go to the bridge car Park. But that is anti-clockwise, though by far the most sensible route. I emailed the club imploring them to be specific and received a reply stating blandly that I must follow the clockwise route, which would mean I would have to walk past the South and then all the way round to the West stand to get to the pathway leading to the Bridge Car Park. Madness, considering, as I understand it, the Palace lot are being kept in the stadium.
And their guide doesn't even mention about how to get to the station!

it's clockwise if you need to get to the coach park. problem is the time they are kept in is limited by the time of their special train. they escort them round via the west stand down to the station hence those from South west and north having to follow the clockwise route
