I do quite LIKE Jim Maxwell, but he does have an INFURIATING tendency to suddenly sound all excited, unnecessarily.

"AND HE'S MISSED IT. Through to the keeper. What are you plans tonight Aggers?"

He's at it again:

"...and MOEEN ALI HAS HIM sweeping, the ball heads towards the fine leg boundary."

I hope Boycott has been slagging off this pitch. At least Cardiff gave the bowlers something, this is an absolute road.

As for Blowers, he's gone right over the top now, but who's going to be the one to tell him he's done as a commentator. I don't like Ed Smith and Charles Dagnall's voice really grates.

Maxwell, Vaughan, Boycott, Agnew and Tuffnell are all excellent and engaging.

England 500 plus when we finally get in.

9 years since Jason Gillespie scored the most recent double century overseas for Australia.

I like Ed Smith. Smart bloke.

I think there is still a place for Blowers too - albeit solely for reasons of sentiment and tradition. Clearly at this stage though, he should not be the one actually commentating on the ball by ball action.

.......
Very intelligent man by all accounts. His personality doesn't engage me, I find I'm waiting for his 20 minutes to be up until someone I like comes on.....Blowers following Smith is a double whammy.

What's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander.

:)
