I used to like the freebie season review / goals DVD's that we used to get when we were at Withdean, I still have each one of those. I suppose Premier League copyrights would probably put paid to that now (after all, NOTHING comes free when it comes to the PL).

Seem to recall some seasons at Withdean where we got TWO dvds, incl a halfway through the season report. Considering how small a pot to piss in the club had at the time, that looks like quite a magnificent gesture in hindsight. And seemed well decent at the time also.

No need with everything available online to watch when we want now I guess.

FWIW I'm glad they're not sending me any useless tat. Don't even need a letter confirming renewal - a simple email is enough (or even have a popup message on the website when you log on perhaps).

Get where you're coming from, and largely agree. But the lengths that the club went to, in the Withdean era, in terms of trying to provide great value for money, whether that be through free dvds, hospitality packages that made you feel quite special and valued, ditto player sponsorship meals was, I feel, an amazing achievement. It said a huge amount about the club at the time. What they may have been lacking in money, they more than made up for in class. Very tough act to follow, though the Amex era heirarchy seems to me to be making a decent enough try. Despite the harder-edged commercialism, seems to me that the club's heart remains in the right place and Treating Customers Fairly remains fairly high on the agenda.

Well, I've just come back from holiday and my old washbag is getting distinctly tatty - so I was quite chuffed!

Could have done with another pen though, the one we got last year was great.

It's not really the Albion's stuff though - my Man City colleague got a wash-bag, notebook, bottle opener - but also a scarf and something else I can't remember. So presumably they're all made and produced in the same place?

...hospitality packages that made you feel quite special and valued.

Quite. Especially when you think of the car-crash potential for a bunch of no-mark supporters to club together, buy the deal, drink the portacabin dry pre-match and again at at half-time and then abuse the opposition Directors and guests on their way back to their prime seats.

Not that that would have ever happened. No way. Absolutely not. Impossible.

And no way, would a match sponsor, with drink taken, ever attempt a classic bunny ears on MoM in the official team photo, failing purely on account of a clumsy mistimed arm motion. Nope, would never happen.
