Whenever this debate surfaces I am disappointed by the "I won't give up my season ticket because I am a proper fan" argument.

If prices increase there will undoubtedly be some "real fans" who have to take the difficult decision to give up their season ticket - perhaps also have to tell their children they can no longer afford to go.

It isn't always about whether you are a real fan or not.

Agreed. But it's always after a defeat that these threads appear. I'd have a lot more sympathy for some of these fans if they come on after a good win and tell us how they can no longer afford to attend. Ultimately though, I have huge sympathy for anyone who really wants to go and can't for whatever reason.

Not all stay aways have decided not to go just because a few of the games have been poor or as a comment on the atmosphere, style, etc which your comment could be interpreted as here.

It could be simply as a result of family holidays, sickness and other commitments and reasons that they have decided have taken priority on that occasion, and their missing a game or 2 doesn't mean that they will be reconsidering their future status as a ST Holder.

Fair point...just a general observation really

So why has the playing budget increased if it has all been about making money and not the football side of things?

It tends to be the same few voices on here spouting the same (usually inaccurate) rubbish and generally being negative about virtually everything. The problem with the internet is that people will start to hear and read this sort of thing soo many times and start to accept it as fact and it spreads and others become 'infected' with this negativity. Through the internet, you can't get any sense of the meaning of what is being siad and often something that is being meant one way is interpreted another because you lose the context you get when it is being carried out in a face to face conversation. Things can look like people are being irate and arguing on the internet when they are thinking and trying to communicate something with the complete opposite way of thinking. sarcasm is a great example of something that is lost in translation when put up on a message board.

The only thing that may counter that is the big discount we get for being a ST holder compared to the game by game cost if brought seperately

Have you ever considered using the multi quote function?

It's hilarious isn't it. One bad performance and people can't wait to tell us all how they are no longer interested... how many would have responded like that on this thread had we won 5-0. I'll tell you how many. None.

I'm sure when we played at The Goldstone (where we lost plenty of games) there wasn't this level of pant-wetting every time something went slightly against us..

This is football people. We can't win every game.

the game has moved on since the Goldstone, plus there was no internet forum, so think your point is invalid ?

I always said I'd renew as long as I could afford it. This time it will be close.

Didn't we discuss this last season and the consensus of opinion was 5k wouldn't renew and in reality the STH numbers actually increased ?

I think the real argument here, is do people think they are getting value for money?? People will always find money to be entertained, if they don't feel they are being entertained for the amount they are being asked to pay, then they will find themselves making excuses not to renew. And who can blame them when you see Lita sitting on the bench until the 80th minute, when we need two goals to win a game, against a team who we just thought we were going to walk over.

Prices will probably rise 10-20% which may put a few off but I reckon 95% will renew.

That was with 1500 waiting list so we did lose over 1,000 but this will be the dreaded 4th season:eek:

We'll have to wait and see what happens , for all we know it might be a case of the dreaded 5th season renewal scenario.

I'm calling it a day next season i'm afraid. Nothing to do with the football on the pitch. It's purely financial reasons and other matters. I will pick and choose my games from now on and buy tickets of NSC. Will be sad to see my seat go to someone else

Yes that.

TBH I have been watching the Albion a long(ish) time and all I want to be is entertained. I know we wont win every game, hell I know that the team who are bottom wont be a walk over BUT

I would loved to have gone into work and said you know what we gave it a right old go. He played 5 upfront, the keeper made 10 world class saves, we had three goals and a clear penalty appeal disallowed. On another day we would have smashed them but we were unlucky.

But I cant. I had to say Barnsley beat us fair and square, we had one upfront and I dont think we had a shot until well in the first half when Conway? hit the post. By then it was about the 15th/20th min? 15 mins or more before we even had a ****ing shot.

Thats NOT entertainment.

Until the day i physically can not afford it i will be there. Love the club and as much it pains me to watch us like last night there has always been worse times and there will always be better times. Beat Leicester this weekend everyone will smile till the next game.
