Two points before I sod off though...

1. I fully expect the scheme to be re-vamped for next season, primarily to make it easier for the one/two-off-a-season sharers.

2. The level of hyperbole and, in some cases, vitriol, displayed on this thread is out-and-out bizarre. Is there another Premier League club that operates in such a transparent and open way, always willing to communicate and explain? I genuinely believe we're lucky to have our club in the hands of the current custodians and adminisators, both given what we've had before but also the ownership structures of many other clubs.

That's not say the club always get things right in my view, and for previous outspoken comments I was struck off a few Christmas card lists some time ago, but I am in no doubt that we have a group of decent people working hard to look after the club in the best way possible, whilst also keeping fans very much in focus at all times.

Some people have very short memories.

Whilst I fully agree we are in great hands and that does make me proud. Particularly with how well run we are.

The aggravating comments from Paul Barber recently have been, let’s be honest, a bit daft.

This scheme was nothing more than an attempt to grab yet more cash from hard working people, many of whom could probably only just afford a season ticket.

It’s the fact they denied this was a problem which really pissed a lot of loyal fans off.

Let’s hope there is barely no charge when a new scheme comes into force.

Merry Christmas!

You’re making quite a few unsubstantiated assumptions here to try and justify your argument. Have you thought that the scheme might have other objectives other than to “rob the poor”??

Me and my sister renewed this season. My dad didn't as he's getting on a bit and found the endless flow of evening games a bit of a bind. All 3 of us were (initially)n content in the knowledge that if me/my sister couldn't make a game, then we could pass it on to my dad for the odd game. Then the £35 came into play, so that knocked that on the head. My dad was already highly pissed off at having his warm winter flask of coffee being declared illegal, so the notion of him being asked to shell out £15 to borrow a ticket (on top of our side of the cash transaction) went down about as well as a tray of pigs in blankets at a bar mitzvah.

My view - if someone is registered on your Friends & Family list, I think its petty, mean and miserly that you simply can't declare online in advance that they'll be using your ticket for an upcoming game. The club get most things right, but not this. Its a rip-off, and alienated a long-standing STH family member, as well as all my STH mates are of the same opinion. It stinks, and the empty seats will be the pudding that gives the proof.

The club might be in for a bit of a shock when it comes round to renewals.

It's interesting that the folks who are most upset with the ticket policy say that ' all the guys in the pub ' or ' all my mates' or ' the people sitting around me ' are all also upset with the policy.

I've pretty much only heard from upset people on nsc. I'm not upset and nor are most of the people talk with. I understand why some people are upset but they don't speak for me and there is no way to know what percentage of sth they do speak for. In fact, the club are in the best position to know this and I seem to recall that they quoted quite a high number of sth shelling out the 20 quid and you'd imagine that most of these folks are not too upset.

I hope the club find a way to make this work better for all sth but there are a lot of things which upset me much more about footy in the Prem than this.

That’s not to say all those shelling out £20 are happy about it but they don’t really have any other choice do they (other than leave their seat empty).

STH I know and chat with seem 50/50 split for/against the scheme. The Fors include 2 families that share 2 tickets and family of JCL DFLs that are really lapsed Liverpool fans that just want some entertainment. The Againsts include many long term local fans that started going to Albion matches at the Goldstone and rarely miss a match.

I find this whole stance of "shelling Out" & "many of whom could probably only just afford a season ticket", to name to the two recent ones very mindbogglingly.

We are talking about owners of a Premier League season ticket.

Not only that one of the most expensive tickets.
To support a club in one of the wealthiest catchment areas in the country.

Now sure that wealth isn't evenly spread.

So if you can only just afford a season ticket - why the f##k have you got a season ticket?

If you begrudge shelling out £20, it's probably best you don't go to a pub, restaurant, cafe, coffee shop, the cinema.
Basically you really ought not to go outside.

I can imagine the poor have nots at halftime:-

"Can I have:-

A pint
2 pies.
A bottle of fizz
& a packet of opal fruits please"

"That will be £22 please"

"Sure I've got 2 potatoes, is that ok".

Not really the point though, is it. Paying £20 for the right to pass on something on that you've already paid for, and then also rinsing the other side for £25/£15 does 'rub' a bit.

What if I paid £5 for a pint of Peroni in a Greene King pub, but then before I take a sip, the taxi turns up early so I have to leave. But before I can pass it on to a mate, I have to pay £1.50 over the bar, as does the recipient of the spare beer.

Fair ?

But we don't own our seats or our season tickets, we are renting them.
We're talking subletting here not outright ownership.

I'm only renting the pint glass.
Clearly I was talking about our seats but I guess you are, unless you keep every pint glass you 'buy'.

Again its not the point. I USE the glass when I'm at the pub, just like I USE the seat when I'm sat at the Amex. Neither are taken home with me.

But if I can't drink a full pint I've just bought, I can happily pass it on to someone else without the pub charging me extra, or them charging the other bloke for receiving it. Because I've already PAID for it.

See ?

I agree ... I have to say I'm tired of seeing the same people saying the same thing over and over again in various threads on this topic!

I'm not upset either - in fact when I saw the proposal I immediately thought what a great idea and so I paid my extra £20. I let my two lads know about it who can only get to a few games a season because of work shifts. I transferred my season ticket to one of my lads for the Leicester game when I was away on holiday.

And incidentally they were very happy with what the club sent them as part of the Albion+ membership package.
