From Argus:
Crawley boss Sean O'Driscoll is believed to have been interviewed for the vacant Nottingham Forest manager's job.

O'Driscoll has emerged as a surprise contender to replace the sacked Steve Cotterill and held talks with Forest owners the Al-Hasawi family over the past few days.

Glenn Hoddle remains favourite to take over at the City Ground after Mick McCarthy ruled himself out of the running this week but could potentially be brought in as director of football with O'Driscoll as manager.

O'Driscoll would be a popular choice among Forest fans after helping turn the club's fortunes around last season when he arrived as assistant to Cotterill in January.

The 55-year-old former Doncaster and Bournemouth boss signed a one-year rolling contract at Crawley in May.

I'll apply for the Crawley job. I might as well, it's just another rejection to add to the list.

O'Driscoll would be doing very well to get the Nottingham Forest job.

There was a great deal of fear over forest when they were bought, but mick mccarthy has turned them down, the list for the vacancy includes sean o'driscoll and glenn hoddle. Are they going to be the threat people thought? These don't seem to be the managers to go to (and be turned down by one of them) if you have money to spend and are looking at promotion, are they?

The whole thing is a complete mess. The only places prepared to even speak to me are outbound call centres. ???

Between us, we'd sort out Crawley Town FC. For a start, this Paul Jones character can do one. He's been allocated #1 for this season, Michel Kuipers will be wearing #25. Let's get that mistake rectified straight away.

Sven is being considered, can't see forest giving o'driscoll the time of day, no better than cotterill imo. Owners will be looking to make a statement and appoint a big name.

I thought they wanted to make an 'iconic' management appointment not an 'ironic' management appointment?

Sven can't keep messing things up, can he? He's due to do well somewhere, let it be Forest.

I wonder if Nigel Clough has been approached ? Given money to spend, the chance to re live his dads glories ? If offered surely he would be tempted ?

Maybe he could do a job share with Peter Taylor II.

Seems a bit odd at Forest.

Can't attract anyone with the money they have to offer. I know they had huge debts but assumed they will have paid that off. Apparently will have a load of middle east people on trial down there, so could be why

SOD was second in command at Forest for the second half of last season. I think the locals might have noticed general organisation and results starting to improve. This is not as crazy as it first appears

How does he do it? Decidedly average/poor in each job since he had millions to spend at Lazio. He must interview REALLY well.

He did reasonably well with England, five competitive defeats in four years is impressive, especially compared to how they fared before him under Keegan and after him under McLaren.

At City he did the double over United and gave them their highest points total in the Prem to that date, as well as knocking off a record number of local barmaids.

He didn't take us above an beyond as a nation. He flattered to deceive and came up short when it mattered.

He spent heavily at City and almost lost as many as he won.

Three quarter finals with England, above and beyond what we achieved with Keegan, McLaren and Capello, second best results of any manager apart from Sir Alf.

I remember us losing to ten man Brazil when we should have given them a better game. Only some Beckham magic qualified us.

I remember us throwing it away against Portugal. I remember us limping past (my favourite) Ecuador and then waving the white flag in the next round.

Round progression is very misleading. He never took us above and beyond our capability and, in most cases, we were fortunate to reach the stages we did.

Flattered to deceive. Despite the odd 'blip', we beat lesser nations and lost to the real tests.

Decidedly average.

Keep your chin up mate. I'd had weeks of applying for over 30 jobs a day and my CV is pretty impressive but still got nothing. Then suddenly it all came good in the space of the 48 hours and I start next Tuesday.
Yesterday I had the satisfaction of going to the job centre to sign off.
It's just a numbers game. Something will come up mate.
