I still can't believe how many clueless people on here said we shouldn't sign him including one numpty who said he wasn't as good as Murray or Hemed, WTF?! Brilliant player who will keep Burnley up while we finish bottom with our old, crocked, league one strike force.

Burnley currently have two of our three League One strikers

And Sam Vokes too.

I'd only like Barnes back myself

He's scored a goal which you already feel is vindication enough to quote yourself. Have a day off.

Wycombe's Paul Hayes and Garry Thompson both scored against Spurs last year - does that mean we should have signed them?

No thanks. I've been banging on for months, years in fact, we should have signed him. The fact he was the best striker in the championship was reason enough, today is just further proof.

Add in the fact we have the worst strike force the premier league has seen, I think I'm fully vindicated in saying we should have signed him ahead of a tinpot outfit like Burnley, who in fairness to them do know a good striker (Wood, Barnes, Vokes) unlike most on here.

In a cup game against their reserves

Wood is a goal machine and is better than anything we have..... And that's why we were interested in him.

But why do you think he didn't come?

Because he probably has a beautiful 6 bed converted farm house with home cinema, solarium, indoor poor and cart house parking for 5 cars in the Yorkshire dales and could transfer to Burnley and earn loads more money without moving and disrupting his home life. No brainer.

What, whilst he was on loan at Millwall? or when he was playing for Leicester? Or when he was originally at West Brom?

I'm pretty sure this summer hasn't been the 1st time we've tried to sign Wood. Didn't Wood actually admit to not enjoying his time with us? Does anyone remember Oatway, on the mic, mentioning something about Chris Wood being shit when we were doing the trophy parade back in 2011? I think everyone laughed as well. Poyet then went on to sing 'we are feeing brilliant'.

Classy times.

Just watching it on MOTD2. Wood was involved anything in the few minutes he came on.

Both he and Barnes in the same team. I know I could google it but did they play together at the Albion during Wood's stint with us at Withdean?
