I'm with BG. Made mistakes galore so far.

I find his style irritating. Constantly excitable and says virtually every single word with so much emphasis that it sounds A Lot Like This !

Never expected him to be as good as the absolute class that was/is Hawesy, obviously, but I'm finding it hard work listening today.

My thoughts exactly. How many times does he have to mention the phone in as well.He certainly needs to tone it down a bit.

Thought he did a good job considering it was his first Albion commentary. Bet he was nervous.

Its not his first commentary - he stood in for Hawsey during lickergate.

Thought as much. That irritating feeling did feel familiar.

Hawes was different class but this bloke was alright today. It can't be easy sat next to an old duffer like Norman all the way to Oldham, so he did well to stay awake!

Given time I am sure we get used to his tone.

Did a decent job all things considered. A few mistakes (called Matt Richards 'Mark Richards', and failed to notice Fleetwood had come on for Murray at half time, and called Worthing Thunder 'Worthing Bears') but most importantly he covered the game intelligently and you got a good feel for the play. Promising!

Sounded good for what I listened to, but why did they go for a minute long update at Crawley or something with only 3 minutes to go.

I can't think of a less enviable task than taking over from Hawesy and this new chap is doing very well, considering. All commentators make mistakes and it isn't the end of the world - unless one inhabits a very tiny little world in the first place. However, a tad less EXCITABILITY wouldn't go amiss.

He's been doing Aldershot commentaries for ages, hasn't he?

Although I've never understood why my local radio station should cover Aldershot. Why not Gillingham? It's MUCH nearer.

But Gillingham isn't in the SCR range, where Aldershot is.

I just wish he could have reminded us a bit more often who Norman was & what position he played.

The Astral Planes, man...
I thought he was absolutely abysmal, we heard about Eastbourne, Lewes, Crawley, Shoreham, Worthing rugby club, by the way we are listening to BBC SCR etc etc.. call the fans phone in ...etc etc... I was shouting at the radio - what the feck is happening at Oldham!!! ... Over 90 mins we must have heard no more than about 5 mins of the actual game. What a dismal comedown from the brilliant Hawesy - 'You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone...' This pathetic nonentity might actually get me to more live games just so I don't have to listen to his feeble witterings.

WTF, are you all mad?

I'll forgive him the mistakes, but they did make me feel he knows sweet FA about the Albion compared to Hawesy.

I won't blame him for the constant going over to Crawley, Eastbourne or Lewes either as that's probably the producers doing. That was always going to be inevitable this season anyway, with three Sussex sides one league away from making it into the football league.

It's his style I don't like. His contant state of excitement means you can't read the game so well for when things really DO get exciting. It wears me out.
The thing that bugs me most though is the strong emphasis on nearly every word that I Mentioned in my Post Earlier.

However, it's Saturday night, I'm on NSC discussing the merits of a local radio football commetator. What was that you were saying about tiny worlds again ?:D
