Has CMD called Salmon's bluff in trying to force the issue sooner rather than later ? Do the English or the Welsh/Northen Ireland have a right to vote ? How do you 'table' the question ? For me it is down to those over 18 (maybe 16?) over the Border and resident a simple Yes/No. RESULT IS BINDING for a generation (?) :bigwave:

It would almost certainly end the prospects of any future Labour government for the foreseeable future.

I got slightly miffed when CMD was accused yesterday of trying to interfere in Scottish democracy. Surely as Prime Minister of the the whole UK he's got more right than pretty much anyone else to do just that?

What I find astonishing is that all the problems now and back to the Blair years is that they are all of their(Labours) own making.

Which are ?

Which are ?

I spoke to a labour member years ago and said they should have told charter88 where to go, its all backfiring on them, monkeys for mayors, SNP in power. BNP breathing down their necks, why should it bother the tories if the BNP are taking or splitting the labour vote?

I would include all the crap they signed up to in the EU, a lot of that is unsustainable.

I thought you`d do better than that. The BNP splitting the traditional Labour vote? Are we talking general elections here or a county council seat in Burnley ? Also I dont know if the average Labour voter in this country would know what the hell you were on about including Charter 88 into any of Labour`s demise arguments.
'We can make it happen in the next ten years' might not jog any memories there.

BNP, talking all elections including EU. The average labour voter would find out in the event of any "Inquest" if the jocks go there own way. I really dont care much, dont care if jocks go or labour are in opposition for a generation. Just voicing my view of the reasons this may come about out of labours own short sighted electeral greed that's backfiring.

I used to be an avid and enthusiastic supporter of "The United Kingdom" but, where has it got us, we only ever get accused of exploiting Wales or Scotlands labour or natural resources, they all hate our guts no matter how much money we pump back to them. There are also too many sweaties down here anyway, get rid, send them back and let them brew their own Buckfast under licence.

Northern Ireland's vote is enshrined in the Belfast Agreement and is to be called once demographics suggest it has a chance of passing. The initial expectation was that this would happen within ten years but it hasn't and I doubt it will for another ten from now.

I also suspect that the demographics they'll use will be religion, but 50.1 RC/49.9 Others% will not result in it passing; not would 60/40 I suspect; particularly as there's now quite a lot of people who would have been seen as 'republican' once who, well, aren't now. Partially down to Ireland being skint.

It astounds me that Scotland seems to think the grass is greener alone. I think they are being blindly patriotic, have a look at the NI economy and get a grip. DC should tell em they can have a referendum next week and see what they think of their mighty Alex Salmond now. Run a constituency - yes, run a country - jog on....to argue that 16/17 year olds should be so influential that they are allowed a vote for a countries independance is indicative of their brain cell levels.
