Rangers go bust, are liquidated and kicked out of the SPL.

They apply and get granted English Football League status and join Div 2 for next Season.

Three seasons later they are in the Championship and have a better side than now, more gate and TV revenue.

Celtic sit-on, initially smug faced and then get more depressed as they see the SPL wither away to a regional suB-league.

They aPply to leave the SPL but the EFL rightly enough tells them to FRO.

Just a scenario but one that may happen to pass.

And England would accept Rangers but not Celtic for exactly what reason again?

Presumably the scenario is suggesting that AFC Glasgow Rangers (or whatever the new club, post liquidation is set up as) isn't a member of teh SPL at that time, so the Football League would be deciding on a new club, as opposed to Celtic who would be an existing club proposing to RESIGN from another FA's competition.
