I'm not sure why these threads even get started tbh.

We DO NOT buy established PL young-ish players from the 'big six' for obvious reasons. The transfer fee, the wages, and the perception for them of it being something of a step down. We can squeeze a tune out of your Welbecks, Lallanas and (hopefully) Milners, ie players on a freebie at the fag-end of their careers who can still offer something to the squad even when crocked half the time. But the likes of McTominay, whether you rate him or not, is a player in his prime who would command a chunky fee and wages to match.

This is patently NOT the profile of players TB even bothers looking at. So why bother even speculating ?
