Might have been a piss easy run but he still got us to a WC semi final which no one other than Bobby Robson has managed on foreign soil, and guess that was a pretty easy run too.
Southgate also beat Spain in Spain in the nations league, he then beat Croatia only a few months after they had reached the World Cup final. Both competitive games.
Interesting how you class Croatia has decent opposition to suit your point about 2018 but will no doubt claim it doesn’t count as beating a decent side in this tournament.
The Croatia team are no mugs, but they are not as strong today as they were in 2018, that's a fact, 3 of their best players have retired.
The England squad now since 2018 is stronger imho the Croatia squad weaker.
The nation's league are effectively new format for friendlies ++, they are not euro/WC qualifiers or proper competive euro/WC competition.
Let's see where we finish in this competition when we face the first decent team in the KO's.

Just watching Portugal v Germany and you can add Germany's version of Sterling, Gnabry, to that list, every time he gets the ball he is a genuine threat.Do we have very special players who can and do control internationals, impossible to get the ball off, creating chances in a second or having the pace to destroy anyone in a second?
No way.
The Italians have the brilliant Immobile, we have the immobile. Kante, Mbappe, Immobile and De Bruyne are light years ahead of our best.

That’s just factually incorrect. The nations league is a proper recognised international tournament. Not only that but anyone who watched those games could see they weren’t anything like friendly matches. To say otherwise is totally disingenuous. Spain did everything they could to win that game.
You can just discount a new international tournament just because it blows you argument out the water.
