Burley does not look well, even for a Scotsman. Last time I saw someone that grey they were sat outside the Branch Tavern in a wheelchair.

Mind you, he is 53. That's good going for them. I'm gonna pick him in next year's celebrity death sweepstakes.

He is absolutely useless. Picking McManus and Caldwell against Wales was inspirational. They are absolute dross, having 'starred' for the Great Unwashed on many a time this season!! ha ha.
Give Wales their due, played a young side with Aaron Ramsay who looks rather good, running things in midfield. Could be worth a Guslook? Virgo plus £10,000 should secure the deal.

not really a shock is it, being outplayed by a pretty much under 21 Welsh side is never going to do job prospects much good

Can't Explain (Who)

Burley blamed the players for being too thick. Probably were, but it is not his job to say it. It just means his man management skills could not explain what he wanted properly.

Anyone remotely interested in the job is in with a chance!!

He has been slow to chuck his hat in the ring this time round, so either he has (at last) found his real spiritual home with the sheepies, or he has worked out the Scottish job is currently nothing more than a poisoned chalice.

The SFA need to look at themselves. They could have sacked him after the failed WC campaign but gave him 2 friendlies to turn things round. The players know he's toast so can't be bothered and - surprise, surprise - they get mullered 3-0.

Not only that but who IS there they can appoint to improve things? Levein, Calderwood, Jeffries, McCoist - all bollocks. Look at what Trapattoni's done with Ireland after the woeful Steve Staunton all but took them back to the drawing board.

I take on board they tried Vogts and it didn't work but there's still a nucleus of good players there who, over 2 legs, should beat the likes of Wales and Northern Ireland.

a bad workman blames his tools, but in scotlands case it's like constructing a building armed only with a chip fork and then everyone having a go at you for doing shit

ie. there's only so much you can do with an appalling group of players

wales, the republic and even n. ireland have a few pretty good players- for whatever reason scotland don't

I think that quote was from his nephew - Craig Burley. In fairness to George Burley it may be that they're too crap rather than thick to adapt.

The SFA need to look at themselves.

Too true - had they done what was required after the previous match, we may not have Strachan as manager - assuming that the powers that be can actually see past the ends of their noses!

Levein, Calderwood, Jeffries, McCoist - all bollocks.

Bit harsh - Levein would certainly help to make Scotland hard to beat - which is where I think they need to start. How they find a proven coach/manager, who is interested in the job and is capable of finding a system that all of the players understand is beyond me.
