Which people wont accept.
People will not vote for a government that will make life harder for them.
People like foreign holidays, driving and eating meat.
We will not get a green dictatorship in the UK.
You must realise this?
Why couldn’t we? The pendulum is already swinging, more and more people are ‘getting it’? We just need to up the urgency. You can sit by and do nothing as is your prerogative. Or you can help in hundreds of small but enormously helpful ways that make a difference. It’s ironic our club motto is Stand or Fall when so many are prepared to Fall without even giving it a try. ‘Grandpa, what did you do in the war...?’ (‘Well, you see son, it was really dangerous and people were getting hurt plus we’d made a right balls of things to start with...so I wrote to my MP asking him to surrender whilst spreading gloom and defeatism to all my friends and neighbours’)
Sake, this is survival at stake here - when are people going to quit moaning about how hard it’s going to be? Is it that hard not to eat less meat? Not fly to Spain for just a weekend break? Not put pressure on friends and family to do the right thing instead of accepting there’s nothing we can do? I’m afraid I just can’t accept that, the story of our own club is a bloody lesson to all those who think that way ironically. I vividly remember all the mocking, delusional and derogatory remarks I had from people when I was handing out leaflets on the London Underground in the 90s, jumping on buses in Hangleton and knocking on doors in Patcham getting people to go out and vote during Falmer for All campaigns. You really aren’t going to persuade me otherwise my friend. Because it can be done, that’s the really exciting bit about it. Why not try and introduce some more changes yourself (sure you’re doing plenty already but there’s always a few more than are very easy to do)
