I have very fond memories of my time at Elm Grove juniors in the early to mid 70's and Patcham Fawcett Annexe as well as Patcham Fawcett main school from the mid to late 70's.

What schools did you attend?

Elm Grove Infants and Juniors. Westlain Grammar

Elm Grove Juniors mid 70's and the Patcham Fawcett , left 79, we muxt have been at the same school at least some of the time.Perhaps we even knew each other, like u fond memories of Elm Grove- Mrs Cole has always stuck in my mind!

Elm Grove School ? The enemy. Rightly put in their place with a 6-0 thumping in 1977.

I'm a SLOB, a St Luke's Old Boy (1973-1981). I suppose Queen's Park should have been the rivals. But they were more the Crawley to your Palace.

I went to Stanley Deason afterwards.

The teachers, the kids and the fact I had to go there. I was a very introverted kid

Yeah The Knoll eat introverts,i was one at the start, very soon learnt all the extroverts held the high ground and succumbed ,eat or be eaten seemed to be the way there . I was lucky,i had good friends and we stuck together throughout 5 years .

I was in Mrs C's class. I also remember Mr Hawker, Mrs Large, Mrs Batchelor and Val Hennessey who went on to become a columnist for the Sunday Mail. I knew a Nick who had a stepbrother (Clive I think?).

My Dad and I did the plumbing at the Knoll from 1973 right up to when it closed.
We used to call it the borstal.
If I had to go back to the van for anything I would take a hammer with me for protection
Some highlights:
They set fire to the lagging in the roof space.
They nicked a ladder while we were on the roof.
They let the handbrake off on a painters van which crashed into the double doors in the playground.
They smashed the cubicles over time leading it looking like an open Roman communal bog.
