That's neither here nor there ,you've taken that out of context again ???
regards
DR

Are you stupid? (That's a rhetorical question* by the way)

1. The allegation is that the head effectively sacked the Governor - according to him, because of political affiliation.
2. I pointed out that she has no power to remove him from his position.
3. Thus the fact that it was not his place of work - i.e. he is not one of her staff, is entirely the context.

*This means you don't need to answer it.

Cracking thread this.

I've been waiting for some plaster to go off at work and have thoroughly enjoyed myself between playing online chess and tuning in to this thread.
Like Herr Tubthumper says..... Pub next. I like Friday afternoons.

I think this post, and bushy's spluttering outrage both miss the point I was trying to make. Which is that it doesn't matter what any of us 3 think about a school's policy for learning Polish (for arguments sake), it's for the people who elect the governors to decide. And a governor who switches to declare himself as a UKIP member after being elected is fundamentally changing the goalposts.

As for the specific example of learning Polish, well of course kids of Polish parents could learn Polish in a more immersive environment. Equally, kids of football-mad parents could learn football in a more immersive environment too, but that doesn't mean to say they'd be happy to see football struck off the PE curriculum.

Do we know he was an elected Governor and not a school nor LEA appointed governor - if either of these then his political affiliations are relevant.

Yeah, it would terribly troubling for me. I probably wont sleep, knowing that people on NSC didnt like me. Ill repeat...my ego can handle it ;-)

I actually find it quite funny that people take themselves so seriously on here. I find it hilarious that some idiot has a track history of inviting people to fight, and just as hilarious, some of the pomposity. Still, I like it. ;-)

You missed off that someone has a track record of mention a political leader who hasn't been a leader for years and someone who bottles get togethers.

What a brilliant swerve this thread has taken.

My personal NSC Binfest Bingo Card is ALMOST full.

1. Since when were governors 'staff'?

2. The headteacher has no remit to TELL a governor to resign. She could suggest it. He could and should, have refused.

Absolutely this on both counts. Having been a governor and chair of governors in the past of a local junior school, the man in question should certainly not have felt forced to resign. What a wimp.

It might be different if he had joined the openly racist BNP.

And I am violently anti-UKIP, personally.

Besides which, you're completely wrong. For arguments sake, membership of UKIP might suggest that a governor be strongly opposed to the introduction of teaching basic Polish in schools. This would be an issue in an area with a lot of ethnic Poles, I'm sure you'd agree.

I see what you mean but it is very far-fetched - I could not see how there could be a conflict between the school's ethos and a mainstream political party in a democracy, whatever the rights and wrongs of UKIP. I do appreciate that this is for argument's sake, however.

In the Bushy sense?

No!!! I like to think of myself as a peace-maker, if anything.

I posted 9 pages in without reading the whole thread. Good grief! It seems to have got a little out of control. Hilarious.

But I still think the councillor was a wimp for resigning - either that or the school head is a formidable woman.

When I was an LEA appointed governor, no-one asked me what my political affiliations were. Nor my religious affiliations (which might have been relevant, given that the school in question was a Church of England Controlled School).

I am sorry but I cannot see that changing your political allegiances has anything to with being a governor. Fellow parents might vote you in as a parent governor, or you might represent the community. You would have been voted in on the basis of your willingness to do this and that, or due to your ability in, say, financial matters - what you can bring to the school is the crucial issue. As a clerk to governors in three local schools, I have yet to hear anyone talk of allegiance to any party.

Think the school needs to put across their side of the story - as currently they are looking like utter idiots.

I dont even support UKIP, i absolutely hate them, but forcing someone to resign just for supporting them is pathetic - there must surely be more to this.

I can think of one particular NSC bellend who will be on here to make some laughably spurious case for the defence.

But to any sane person, this is clearly ridiculous.

Just the one person?
There will be another one along later that also doesn't live in this country

A swift denial....Perhaps the weekend to wine and dine the other governors, sober up and get the stories straight for Monday.
